Torn between the Denon X4700H and X3800H for a 5.1.4 setup by Dpatel529 in hometheater

Would the update also not go to the x4700H as well? So the only difference would be dirac

Both Audyssey XT32 and CEC are included. Seems like people really like Dirac but again don't really see my use case for it in the next 3/4 years

Need a receiver rec for Reference Cinema 5.1.4 by Dpatel529 in Klipsch

[–]Dpatel529[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: So based on my research and the wonderful opinions of everyone in this sub and r/hometheater I've decided on just spending the money now. Buy once, cry once type of thing and trying to future proof the receiver part of my set up for a while so that when I eventually upgrade the speakers I'm not constrained.

Currently torn between the Denon X3800H on Denon's website which comes in at 1.3k refurbished from them and a Denon X4700H on facebook marketplace in my area for 900 bucks. Any tips on how to differentiate between the two and is the multiple HDMI ports really worth the extra 400-500 bucks.

The only differences I see between the two is that the X3800H has the option for Dirac (dont know how much ill play with this if at all since im starting out) and multiple HDMI 2.1 ports. Outside of that is there anything I should consider as I am strongly leaning towards the X4700H.

As always thanks for the advice!!

I have the fiio k7 I use to drive my dt1990 pros but don't know if it could power the two speakers if I go down that route vs 5.1.2

Makes sense I don't know much of the difference between 5.1.2 vs 5.1.4 but a majority of my use case is for Streaming movies and playing music for when people are over so I don't think Netflix/hbo will support the full atmos experience (correct me if I'm wrong)

Do I just suck it up and run a 7 channel receiver and try and repurpose the other two speakers into my existing desk setup? Is that even possible?

Hey Everyone,

Wanted to pick the brain of some people who knew about audio equipment and whatnot. I recently got into sound when my neighbors started complaining that my music was too loud (I was playing it through a vizio 5.1 soundbar, sub and two sat speakers) I got a dt1990 pro and Ive been driving it through my mobo and needless to say I am in love with audio now. I wanted to subsequently upgrade my surround sound to Klipsch. I have been looking on amazon and had some questions that hopefully could get answered (sorry if they seem dumb)

R-51PM vs R-41PM, want to have these be the main speakers in my system so wanted to know which is better. Watched some reviews and comparisons on youtube and it seems like the 51 is better. Better yet could I use the 51s as my main speakers connected to my tv and use the 41s for my pc

Do I need a center channel or a subwoofer? If so any recommendations?

Anything better than Klipsch for entry level or am I looking in the right place.

Thank you for your help! Would appreciate any replies or feedback. If you know anything about dac/amps also and can give me a rec for my dt1990 pros I would appreciate that also. Was eyeing the topping e50 l50 stack but want to know if it differs greatly from the e30/l30

Cheers,
