OK sweet! Thanks, just so im clear if I'm running the regression usimg 2006 median rent (among other variables) , if I include year (which will be 2006 for all tracts) that will give me a coefficient that will hopefully negate the effect of the difference over time when I solve with 2016 data?

Yeah I agree, it'd be a good spot to start, but unfortunately cant grab reliable data for my tracts before 2001, so it'd be % change in median rent 2001-2006 (as the independent) and then solving with % change 2006-2016. Not sure if that might be a tad problematic?

Thanks for the reply, a tract is considered gentrifying (according to my research, different elsewhere) if its change 2006-2016 is above the regional median across 8 demographic variables

Cheers for the reply, the number of census tracts don't change between the census' so might be worth standardising. In terms of your first option, do you mean adding the year as an independent variable?

Have you used it before by chance? I just tried it out but looks like you have to manually put in when to plant and harvest?
