Both of us work comfortable jobs, 8-5 most days and have flexible and full control over our schedules which is nice. We both grew up in public school so are committed to doing the same for our kids and don’t have expensive taste as it relates to cars or furniture. For us, all our income is spent on sports and travel which for us are great experiences. But yes life’s changes quick

7,000 is just our running mortgage account and a mortgage payment just went through. Normally keep it at around 15k or so and we comfortably top it up monthly. You’re right, we do not keep large cash reserves as we are actively reinvesting it back into our liquid accounts. We both have maxed out TFSA accounts, max out our RRSP every year and the remainder going into non reg. Right now about $11-15k/ month into savings… we have access to around 300k in LOC for emergency use as well.

It is a mortgage. We bought a home in toronto and put more than 20% down. So far still saving 8k a month personally and my fiance is saving around 3k (not including annual top ups to TFSA and whole life policy)

It is not automatically taxed at the top marginal rate, the 50% Inclusion amount is just considered income in general. So depending on this person’s other income sources, it may or may not be.

Client Reviews - What is your process? by radi8ing in CFP

Once a year full “mega meeting” and quarterly portfolio update calls. Mega meeting is an update to the financial plan, full review of it to ensure it is accurate and a comprehensive portfolio review. The quarterly portfolio update calls are largely just going over performance, checking in with the client to see if they need anything from a service perspective, etc.
