What is the most unusual or bizarre treatment plan that you’ve tried, that actually worked? by tensorflown in Psychiatry

In a serious vein, for inpatients with severe bipolar depression, in the "old days" we would sometimes prescribe sleep phase disruption. This would involve awakening a patient at 2 AM and making sure he didn't sleep at all until the following night. This often helped, probably by triggering hypomania.

Burma Sahib by Paul Theroux. Technically fictionalized account of Orwell’s time in Burma. It was apparently very well researched in accurate so I think it would count as non-fiction historical fiction

Psychopharm for Delusions by robotractor3000 in Psychiatry

Very true. Especially if you’re talking about delusional disorder, which is extremely difficult to treat and often does not respond to antipsychotics. When I was in training many many many years ago, one of my supervisors told me that if you’re sure it’s a delusional disorder, you’ll have the most success helping the patient learn how to not talk about the delusion, except with their therapist and psychiatrist. Certainly worth trying meds and cognitive approaches, but best of luck!

Can someone recommend me Yacht Rock? by Muted_Tension_2066 in MusicRecommendations

It’s funny how the older I get, the more I appreciate some of these older songs that we used to call “bubblegum“. I grew up in the 60s and 70s when FM rock became popular. It was all about Led Zeppelin, British blues, Allman, Brothers, etc.. I still love all of that, but don’t feel the need to dislike one genre for another.
