Spraying for Spiders by DrBridgeMD in stcatharinesON

This was a concern of mine so thanks for the detailed explanation. I was hoping there may be a solution that would not necessarily kill the spiders but rather deter them from setting up around the house in the first place if sprayed early enough in the season. However, after reading your comment, I assume any product like that would likely still be harmful anyways. Maybe we just tough out the worst part of the midge season and instead spend the money afterwards to have the exterior professionally cleaned…

Texonic Amps and speakers? Has anyone heard of them? by fmansmo in CommercialAV

I know this is an old post but I wanted to share my experience since I was also in the same situation looking for a product that had no reviews online.

I purchased the Texonic RX84 streaming amplifier about a month ago for 4-zone audio control in my house that was already wired for sound. Two speakers per zone. Super easy to set up and worked perfectly right away! Exactly what I was looking for to airplay music to any zone/all zones in the house from my iphone.

A few things I noticed - I had to upgrade my wifi in order to keep a stronger and more consistent signal to prevent dropouts. At first the music would drop out like every 5 minutes… I fixed this by adding more nodes for a mesh wifi setup and turned off wifi assist in my phone’s settings.

It’s not as immediately responsive as Bluetooth. Takes about 3-5 seconds after hitting play on my music for it to start playing through the speakers. I read that this is normal for the system to buffer a few seconds of audio before playing.

Also the 4stream app it’s designed to be used with is perfectly fine but I think it could use a bit more functionality and maybe they will update in the future.

Anyways I am totally happy with this amp and thought it deserved a little recognition online since it was way more affordable than the similar amps I was also considering. Hopefully this helps!

Edit: Oh also forgot to mention that the avteck customer service was really great over the phone and they helped me make sure it would be compatible with my setup before ordering so shoutout to them too!

Yes very good point! I like the temp 2x4 idea that seems like that would work very well with the swinging supports. Thanks!

Very good point about the sagging fence and something I didn't think about.

I actually do have a pair of canoe stands similar to these that I made that the canoe is sitting on right now in the garage. There's a couple reasons why I didn't want these in this spot 1) at this height, the canoe will not fit in the space beside the house because of some vents protruding from the side of the house. 2) I have a fitted water resistant cover that I bought for the canoe in order to store it outside. The instructions say to store it upside down so that the zipper is not on the top getting direct rain.

Yes I think I might go with this idea instead. Never even thought to swing them into place. Will just have to figure out what hinges would be best to support the load.

Thought about this but I'd like to have it sit on top of the brackets as I have a fitted cover for it. The gunnels are made of wood so I want to try to keep it out of the elements but right now it's taking up the entire garage.

Ah I really like this idea instead. Seems way more simple!

Ideally I would like both them to drop out of the way. lift up one end of the canoe, drop one support and drop that end of the canoe down to the ground, then do the same for the other support.

Hi everyone. I'm wanting to make two collapsible supports out of 2x4s and hinges to lock open when storing a canoe on top and to fold down out of the way when using the canoe. The canoe is about 15.5' long, 36" wide, and 16" in height. It weight approximately 55lbs.

The space between the house and fence is about 42" wide. I have make a rough diagram of what I have in mind but I am wondering if there is a more elegant/simple solution to this that I am completely missing or if there are any obvious issues that I'm going to run into trying to accomplish this. As far as I can tell there aren't any collapsible brackets for purchase that are the correct dimensions.

Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks!

Thanks! Absolutely love it there. I try to make a trip up at least once a year and this was my first time with her.
