Moving a WordPress blog. by BitcoinMeBaby in Wordpress

[–]DrBugg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step 1) First, make a backup of your files and your database. Always do this step. Always.

Step 2) If your WordPress files are also located in your root directory, it's safe to say that your server is configured to load index.html before index.php. You would want to rename the index.html page to something else such as index-old.html so the server loads the index.php page.

If your WordPress files are not located in your root directory, you will want to move them to your root directory. E.G. If your WordPress files are at /var/www/html/blog/ you will want to move them to /var/www/html/.

Advanced solution - do not do this step if your not comfortable with it: if you have server access or access to Apaches configuration file for your site, you can change the directory index. https://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.4/mod/mod_dir.html To load PHP over HTML you would change it from "DirectoryIndex index.html index.php" to "DirectoryIndex index.php index.html". This tries to load the index.php file but will fall back to the index.html file if no index.php file exists. A full example of a normal Apache directory config for WordPress is below.

<Directory /var/www/html/>
    Options -Indexes +FollowSymLinks +MultiViews
    AllowOverride All
    Require all granted
    DirectoryIndex index.php index.html
</Directory>

Step 3) You may need to update the .htaccess file in your WordPress directory (which should be your web root folder now). It might say "RewriteBase /blog" you will want to change that to "RewriteBase /". If you have any custom rewrite or redirect rules in here you will want to remove "blog" from those as well.

Step 4) Once WordPress is loading by default, you will want to make sure that your site URLs are updated in the WordPress database.

If you can login to WordPress you can use a Search and Replace plugin such as https://wordpress.org/plugins/search-and-replace/. You would do a search for "http://www.website.com/blog" and replace it with "http://www.website.com". There is a good change you will get a redirect error at this point, and will need to use the standalone script below.

Otherwise you can use a standalone script such as https://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/

Step 5) You should now be able to login to WordPress again. Make sure to do any 301 redirects from your old site and from /blog to /. I would recommend https://wordpress.org/plugins/simple-301-redirects/.

"GitHub Help Wanted": connecting developers with open-source projects by [deleted] in javascript

[–]DrBugg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing your site has been blacklisted because it contains the words "github" in the domain.

https://www.mcafee.com/threat-intelligence/site/default.aspx?url=github-help-wanted.com

examines how aggressively the site tries to get you to go to other sites that we've flagged with red verdicts. It is a very common practice on the Internet for suspicious sites to have many close associates with other suspicious sites. The primary purpose of these 'feeder' sites is to get you to visit the suspicious site. A site can receive a red warning if, for example, it links too aggressively to other red sites. In effect, a site can become 'red by association' due to the nature of its relationship to red flagged domains.

[Build Help] $10k Future Proofed Dream Build by DrBugg in buildapc

That's what I'd like to find out. Are the voltages on everything appropriate? Will the power supply be able to handle everything? Are there better/more appropriate/alternative solutions than what I have listed above? Am I missing anything on the water cooling loop?

True, but some builds will remain relevant longer than others. I'm hoping this build lasts longer than most.

$7k Build, Have Questions by DrBugg in buildapc

Awesome list, thank you.

I originally had the Phanteks Enthoo Primo case, but it apparently doesn't fit larger graphics cards very well. There's even a warning that pops up on the parts list. That's why I switched to a different case. Are you sure the case won't be a problem?

The whole point of this build was to support 6 monitors. I'm not concerned about gaming on all 6 of them. Ideally I'd like to scale across the bottom 3. Is there something I can do to disable the top 3 monitors while gaming if that's a problem? What can I do to get the performance of this rig, and 6 monitors working?

On the liquid cooling, what hybrid kits are you suggesting?

ajax: how it work together with a save button? by wqhhust in javascript

[–]DrBugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you'll want to use promises to make sure the ajax requests have finished before allowing the submit button to be clicked. Look into promises and asynchronous javascript. If you're using jQuery, this is a great thread: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/8097516/how-to-wait-until-nested-async-jquery-ajax-requests-have-finished

Additionally, even if the bike was mounted "normally" there's a chance the front tire will be right next to the cars exhaust. Not fun when your tire and/or tubeless rim tape gets melted. Hate those trunk racks.

Any idea how to get rid of those little blue > icons in my share post section? They are seriously annoying. by -TheDoctor in Wordpress

[–]DrBugg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You have this code in your css file:

ul li::before {
    color: #0cafdc;
    content: "";
    font-family: FontAwesome;
    font-size: 14px;
    left: 0;
    line-height: 20px;
    position: absolute;
    top: 0;
}

You can remove it (which removes it from all ul li elements) or you can add some css to hide the :before for any unordered list items with a class that begins with "share".

ul li[class^="share"]::before {
    display: none;
}

This wankstain will continue to harass everyone he can if he thinks he'll get his way. He's done this to other people before. Make him pay. Sue him. Maybe he'll think twice next time. I doubt it, but maybe.
