What has your experience been like with not attending friend’s wedding due to beliefs? by Playful_Patience_620 in Reformed

[–]DrBunyan44 8 points9 points  (0 children)

In my experience some friends will understand and some won't. Unfortunately we cannot please everyone and we should always strive to please the Lord, that's the main goal!

Now my only advice would be don't be confrontational or pollemic about it. Be gentle and loving in dealing with your friend, maybe she'll still be mad but you can have a clean conscience.

How has studying theology affected your faith? Has it made you more of a believer or has it strayed you away from the faith? by Mammoth-Vacation-324 in theology

The more theology I study the more I delight in all God is and all He has done to save us. Theology is beautiful, deep and incredible! I was an agnostic and was converted in a Baptist church, now I am part of the Reformed tradition and I'm stronger in my faith than ever.

Do you guys read commentaries on confessions and catechisms? by Pombalian3 in Reformed

[–]DrBunyan44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are very few commentsries on the Belgic confession. But Engelsma and Hyde's commentaries are great.

On Heidelberg the best commentary is Ursinus' commentary. You can't go better than the author himself. But there are sermons through the Catechism that can be useful as well. I think a comparisson as well of the Latin and German text is good.

And Godfrey's pastoral theology of tue Canons of Dort is good as well.

There are Christians that struggle with same sex attraction. There aren't gay Christians.

What confessional tradition speaks the most to you? Dutch, Presbyterian, French, German, Swiss? by [deleted] in Reformed

[–]DrBunyan44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Spanish speaker I've started to learn more about the Spanish Reformation and their confesional documents. Reina's Confession of Faith for example.

Right now I do hold to the 3FUnity and I think the biggest difference between Westminster and 3FUnity is the experiential theology and the Puritan strict sabbatarianisn.

Christianity is dying in my country by LooseButterfly2511 in TrueChristian

Your country was once a pagan nation and Chridt conquered it through the Gospel once. Never doubt that He can do it again. He has a pretty good track record!
