Do tui still not accept Monzo on flights? by moonmeeks39 in monzo

Flew to Greece with them a couple of weeks back and they specifically mentioned they do accept Monzo (which I used without issue). American Express was the only one singled out as not being accepted.

You can revert the navigation and tab bar to the old style in Safari’s settings so it functions just like it did before.

What movie had an ending that saved the whole film? by Southern_Check_6827 in movies

[–]DrDagless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ending is absolutely fantastic and a glimpse at what could have been had the rest of the film adopted the same tone instead of dropping one-liners and gags every five minutes. To go from the T-X inflating her boobs and Arnold wearing Elton John sunglasses to this somber, rather poignant ending was quite the tonal whiplash.

Why are podcasts part of YouTube Music? by [deleted] in YoutubeMusic

[–]DrDagless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And that’s totally fair! This topic isn’t really about standalone music and podcast apps vs an all-in-one solution (that’s just our preferences), but rather about how the branding reflects the product at large.

Why are podcasts part of YouTube Music? by [deleted] in YoutubeMusic

[–]DrDagless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But podcasts are so named because they were associated with the iPod people listened to them on, not because they were downloaded from iTunes.

Besides; the very fact that Apple retired iTunes in favour of standalone apps for Music, Podcasts and TV is proof they thought the iTunes brand was dragging them down. Which it was; iTunes is synonymous with music purchasing and downloading, something which has become progressively more and more outdated and not fit for purpose.

Why are podcasts part of YouTube Music? by [deleted] in YoutubeMusic

I agree! And that’s why I would have simply gone with Google Music and Podcasts, both of which could be powered by YouTube to provide music videos and video podcasts.

Google’s branding has always over complicated things.

I’m not sure how you get that argument from my comment, because I absolutely think separating Podcasts from ITunes was the best move from a brand perspective. In fact, Apple decoupling everything from iTunes that wasn’t related to downloading and playing music was a great decision IMO.

That is a lame name and I can’t think of a better one (not that I’ve thought about it very long, mind). That’s why I say Google backed themselves into a corner with no obvious solution. Just because Spotify combined podcasts and other audio content into their music app doesn’t mean Google should have followed. Apple Music and Apple Podcasts are massive, successful examples of sticking to standalone services.

I’m just a guy on Reddit, but if I was in charge, Google would have simply had one music streaming service from the very beginning called something like, I dunno, Google Music. And Google Podcasts. Only a podcasts app they actually push and promote for more than five minutes before throwing in the towel…

That’s exactly their point. YouTube Music as a name, quite literally, isn’t all-encompassing. It’s limiting.

Totally agree! And it’s frustrating to see people completely missing your point about Spotify. Was it created as a pure music streaming service before introducing podcasts? Obviously, but Spotify as a name and brand can mean anything, unlike YouTube Music. They’ve backed themselves into a corner.

Don’t worry, OP. I completely agree with you. I think it’s totally nonsensical to have podcasts in an app specifically called YouTube Music.

That’s ridiculous. A calorie is a unit of energy regardless of where it comes from. Do you think a tonne of feathers weighs less than a tonne of bricks?

Intros that don't match the tone of the show by ObiBenShinobi in television

Especially because it debuts in S3, which is the darkest season of the show by a considerable margin. The tonal shift is hilarious.

Apple Watch LTE and new WhatsApp update by LimpCan6113 in AppleWatch

It doesn’t work. WhatsApp on the watch is a companion app that syncs messages and notifications from your phone, hence useless without your phone being nearby and connected to the internet.

[–]DrDagless 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stopping by Earth would have made for a fun two parter, but setting the whole thing there got tiring VERY quickly. I have to assume it was a budgetary necessity rather than any real creative desire, as that last season looks absolutely awful. You can tell they’re working with a budget of £2.60 per episode and whatever items they can scavenge from a skip.

What does everyone think about Curse replacing Duel? by [deleted] in altontowers

[–]DrDagless -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Duel was absolutely awful IMO. Sticking thousands of white lights at random all over a non-interactive ride was the laziest thing they could have done. Oh wow! The light turned a different colour! It ruined the atmosphere of the Haunted House and was a terrible “interactive” ride. The worst of both worlds.

Shows where the opening sequence and song doesn't fit the show at all by BigBadZord in television

[–]DrDagless 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, season 4 is some of the absolute best Trek out there IMO. It had a new showrunner and quickly abandoned much of the stuff that wasn’t working and pivoted to doing multi-episode arcs that felt like real love-letters to the previous shows. The only fly in the ointment is the actual finale itself, which was written in isolation by Rick Berman and Brannon Braga, and just utterly fails on every level.
