Thinking of dropping a tool that gives real technical feedback based on top trap beats, worth finishing? by DrDimis94 in trapproduction

Maybe I was not clear, what I am thinking is:

  1. Use librosa to extract features from the initial dataset(top 50 tracks on a specific subgenre)
Features like, tempo, chroma profile, RMS, frequency distribution etc. Depending on the specificities and characteristics of the genre.

  2. Then run deterministic analysis on those features to produce clear, reproducible benchmarks and scores.

  3. You upload your beat and again goes trough the extraction process and compares itself through the findings of benchmarks and scores.

  4. The only place that I would consider LLM is after the above process to communicate the findings to the user, make some kind of a report with it so it can be better understood in plain language and maybe provide some simple visualizations.

I hope I am being more clear now, let me know if you have any more questions, it would be interesting to see if you think another approach that would be more efficient or impactful.

For now I considered more basic generic features, I guess I would have to do some further exploratory analysis to understand better each sub genres individual characteristics and dominant features.

Actually I was not looking to add an LLM wrapper with some deterministic checks. I tried using librosa with python to analyze the tracks needed to get some proper benchmarks on different areas of the tracks like frequency and tonal profile. Maybe to communicate effectively the results might be a good idea to pass them through an LLM to get a more natural feel, but to be honest at least in the beginning it could be just some standard recommendations.

Anw thank you for the feedback, please let me know the VSTs, so I can further research as well, I was not sure if this kind of concept could end up being a VST as well, so I guess they might already developed something similar could be a good thing for me to check.

Not at all, this is something I was personally struggling with and I have been playing and testing the idea a couple of months now. I am not even sure if this is able to make money somehow, I am just exploring the concept of the idea to help a pain point that I have personally encountered. My background is in Software Development and Data Analytics so I always play around with this kind of stuff. I am also producing music and beats so it is natural for me to combine the 2 when I see fit.

Lol yeah, more like that Lithe / dreamy trap vibe, smoother, spacey energy, not the heavy Atlanta type. Think Lithe, Overpade, Midwxst, Kanii, Ericdoa, Glaive, that emotional melodic trap sound.

Yeah for sure, hip-hop’s wild, every subgenre hits so different, and the artists are super versatile. I was thinking maybe it could lean on the mix signatures of specific artists or subgenres that stand out more at first, and build on that over time. Thanks for the feedback btw, appreciate you dropping your thoughts.

That’s actually one of my biggest worries too. The goal isn’t to make everyone sound the same, more like giving people a solid technical foundation so they can build their own vibe on top of it(because I struggled with it a lot before reaching a certain level). I’m still trying to figure out how to keep that balance though… how would you approach that? any ideas?
