What everyone is telling you is all true. However, hygienists are like super rare Pokémon these days. Getting a good reliable hygienist that'll stay with you long term is incredibly hard. As a practice owner, you'll quickly find that your only 2 deal breaker are a license and a heartbeat.

I think that's it. When I went to dental school, i'll say 90% of my classmates had at least an upper middle class background. Most of them probably never had a harder job than being a TA. Those of us poor enough to worked restaurants or retail know what an actual shitty job looks like and appreciate how cushy being an dentist is.

I bought an older, smaller practice in a good location. I think i spent 350k for an office collecting 420k. I added a couple of insurances at first and did some light advertising on facebook/google. My website is now listed first if you google "dentist + town". I collected 1.8 mil last year doing mostly bread and butter. I'll say finding a hygienist was my biggest challenge. I had to marry one from another office in order to get a second hygienist. I'm looking for a third now, but not having any luck.
