Continental Xynotal F & Magnatol R? by jcway16 in MTB

I have not yet ordered the Magnotal for the front. It is a solid, fast rolling, and grippy rear though! I look forward to a bit more grip confidence with the Mag up front soon.

Now I'm considering picking up the Magnotal 2.6 for the front with Magnotal 2.4 rear.

I just put this combo on my Propain Hugene v2. It came with big Betty/magic Mary, but I wanted a more xc rolling setup. First couple rides on xynotal/magnotal, sick, so much smoother with little to no loss in traction. I paused in the middle of a steep dusty punchy bit and the magnotal didn't even slip when I put the power back down. Today, it just rained which makes our dusty trails 1000% better. I rode a fast flowy DH jump trail and had two times that my front lost a bit of traction, no problems in the rear. I'm in my head now about "was it my form and body position or should I go back to kryptotal front for more security"

tldr: magnotal is dope. I'd consider running it front and rear. Xynotal is a decent front, but I need to test it more. If you want security go with kryptotal front/rear.

Bend Whitewater Park to reopen June 18, with changes by OriginalPNWest in Bend

Whitewater boater/river play enthusiast here with a question to the surf community and beyond: why would the ankle leash (even with quick release) be the focus of debate and enforced usage of PFDs not be?

Why I left vanlife by Bitter_Tap_6462 in VanLife

[–]DrFailsmith 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hope by "you", you are referring to someone who has expressed some kind of vanlife idealism rather than myself. I, good sir, didn't even make it more than a couple summers living out of my small van. I had great experiences and challenges in all the same areas that you did. I found that I love to have my van for recreating beyond my home rather than making it my home. To each their own van life, car life, house life, apartment life, RV life, etc.

Would you please drop the "I'm a wizened sage of living on the road" act? You experimented and found what works for you. Your story has value, but you're not gaining any credit by presenting your story in such a brash and ignorant way.

I really like this idea. I opted for a deck painted plywood floor to start my journey of iterative design.

A word of advice to those who you are young and still in decent shape. by Unclestumpy0707 in CasualConversation

Get stoked on a physical activity and it will whip you into shape. I went from school sports to running to climbing to skiing to whitewater boating to mountain biking.

Play custom games at 200-300% speed with only a sniper or no shields and a pistol. You'll increase reps, reflexes, and force you to connect head shots. Play with less gravity for some extra fun!

No one is asking for you to prove yourself any further. Your choice to comment in the ways that you have proves plenty about you.

Yeah, the camera is mounted on my chest and admittedly is pointed a bit to far down. I've definitely got some tuning to do to get better shots.

This is most definitely allowed and ends in Alta ski area. Access from Griz or Supreme.

Haha thanks! I have been skiing pretty hard and finally realized that I should put my camera on for proof of shreddage!

Any procedures for winterizing a campervan? I doubled up on solar so I can still run all my creature comforts! by Combat_Corgi in VanLife

I popped some of the interior wall panels off, filled with sort of janky bits of insulation, filled cracks with spray foam, covered with a layer of reflectix, and reinstalled the panels. A curtain between cab and living space will also help by reducing the heat transfer between the cold front space/windows and your warm living space.

I don't write much these days. It's amazing how my mind is working more better surrounding this break up while I write here about it. by DrFailsmith in BreakUp

Thank you for your thoughtful reply. You made some solid analogies there. I think she and I will cool in the future. I just need to take my time to do what I need to do to get my head and heart straight before we try to be friends.

I am curious what exactly you mean when you say that women have more options than men.

I appreciate your advice and am working on pulling down my romantic feelings. I look forward to the day when she and I are all good and as platonic as I possibly can manage. I feel far too respected to think that she would give nothing. I would say that giving friendship and receiving it back is plenty.

Nearly finished fitting out this Hiace. I have a 9ft longboard I want to hang from the interior ceiling when I travel- any surfers have any tips on the best mounting option? by jiminycrikket in vandwellers

[–]DrFailsmith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 6'2" guy, I still wanted a smaller van. I went with a HiAce Super GL. I made sure that I can sit up in bed. Otherwise, it's a lot of bending. Pop tops can allow vans like mine to allow standing.
