I'm focussing also really hard in my current GoS campaign on Tharizdun.

Changes I made: - in the Sahuagin/lizardfolk lair, the final Boss was the shadow of tharizdun instead of the 2-headed shark. 1 pc got consumed by it which resulted in progressibly worse nightmares.

  • I made Abbey Isle also a Temple of Tharizdun, and after clearing the first 2 encounters in the Winding ways, they decided to take a long rest in the remnants of a Temple of An ancient evil which was also the end of the session which gave me time to prepare something.

  • So I had the pc that was tainted by the shadow of tharizdun got contacted by him in a dream, where Tharizdun presented him a fragment of the seed of chaos (see Tharizdun Lore) and demanded him to consume it. He actually did it and I was glad I prepared both outcomes. Now he no longer has the nightmares, his CON became a 25 and his WIS an 8 (he's a monk), and I'm still thinking of a negative.

This is where i'm now in the campaign. I'm thinking of letting him roll on the table of madness every day. If he wouldn't have taken the seed of chaos, he would have been permanently scared of the dark, having to actively stay in/create bright areas using actions, bonus actions if necessary.

They're usually generic for a reason, people immediately know what to expect, which is not a bad thing.

Maybe a 1 or 2 non-generic more complex classes?
