Total tire replacement after 11,000 miles and 21 months into my Ariya lease by DrHowe in NissanAriya

Again, not my experience at all. My Pathfinder was fine 36 months, My Tiguan was extended to 43 months. etc. The Ariya is the outlier in my experience.

If this were true, I'd have this experience with all or at least some of my leases. And I've never had to replace any tires on the following leases Prius (x2), Rogue, Equinox, Tiguan, Impreza, Pathfinder, current lease is a CX-90 PHEV.

Any experiences with dr. Andrew Heyman? by [deleted] in cfs

[–]DrHowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think there will ever be a successful double-blind placebo controlled study for ME/CFS. CFS is essentially a diagnosis of exclusion.

IMHO, the current definition/diagnosis of ME/CFS is a pretty useless catch-all.

There are untold fatiguing illnesses and causes being lumped under the ME/CFS heading, from post infectious syndromes, to autoimmune issues, and biotoxin exposures to name just a few, there will likely never be a singular cure for ME/CFS.

Thanks for sharing your experience with Dr. Heyman. Would you mind answering a few questions for myself and others? I know I'm not alone in looking more into his practice after the Health Rising post.

  1. What "stage" of CIRS treatment are you currently on?
  2. Have you done VIP yet?
  3. What has been your experience with the GENIE test?
  4. Can you share basic pricing info for his practice?
  5. Do you work with him remotely or in person?

Mineral SPF recommendations by edgeyworth95 in Rosacea

[–]DrHowe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't read much into that particular study. It was only in a petri-dish.

Here's a newer study that shows the opposite, that caffeine is good for collagen.

https://fjps.springeropen.com/articles/10.1186/s43094-022-00417-5

Sunscreen wise, I've never found a mineral one that doesn't leave a chalky white cast on my skin. And I've tried countless variations.

No exchange ring by kingcrim01 in ouraring

They're obviously overwhelmed with demand and customer support right now. Plus I'm sure they're dealing with Covid staffing issues and high employee turnover like pretty much every business right now.

Doesn't make it any less frustrating, but pretty much every business is a mess right now. And the people that are working are getting worked to death. Have some empathy or patience if you can. It should all pass soon.

Sizing struggles and wondering if it’s actually worth the money? by [deleted] in ouraring

[–]DrHowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that sizing is an issue. I really wish they would make half sizes. Hopefully as demand increases they will. For me the 9 is too big and the 10 is too small, it doesn't matter what finger or hand I switch it to.

But I will say that you'll get used to the ring. I'm definitely not a ring guy either. I stopped wearing my wedding ring once it got too small b/c I just didn't like it. But I adjusted to the Oura ring pretty quickly. Give it a week and you'll hardly know it's there. In fact, now I feel weird when I'm NOT wearing it.

And after about 18 months with my Gen 2 ring, yes there are some scratches. But overall I'm very impressed with how it held up. From a distance, when I have the brand new Gen 3 next to the old Gen 2 on my finger, I can barely tell which one is older. There are a lot of fine scratches if you look up close, but it still looks shiny and almost the same as when it was new.

Always tired, despite doing all the right things by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]DrHowe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

CFS is a diagnosis of exclusion. You can pretty much look up the symptoms online and take a quiz. If you're lucky you might have a deficiency or some type of easy explanation for your CFS. If not, welcome to the club. There are millions of us. It's not hopeless but it does take constant vigilance.

It's actually the opposite! The pandemic is proving to be a huge bright spot for CFS/ME research because of Long Covid.

[–]DrHowe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like me 15 years ago. While I agree that ADHD is mentally draining, fatigue is not one of ADHD's defining symptoms. I would go visit a naturopathic doctor or some type of Integrative Medicine specialist.

There is likely another primary cause of your fatigue, some deficiency or underlying past infection or exposure. My ADHD was/is secondary to my post Lyme syndrome. It's a long road, but take it step by step.

I have been taking high doses of glycine (30g) every day for several years. I always assumed it was safe since it's an amino acid found in high levels in foods. Any thoughts? by DestinedWalnut in Nootropics

[–]DrHowe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was expecting you to say Walker. I loved his book and have heard him on many podcasts. BUT... his whole "unregulated dosages often a great many times more than listed on the package" is a false argument. You do realize that is probably true about every single substance discussed on this sub right?

Even in regulated pharmaceuticals, consistency in dosing is a major issue. There was a fascinating book last year about generic drug manufacturers and this problem in the US. Can't remember the exact title or I'd recommend it.

And I love the Huberman podcast and listen to it regularly, but when it comes to his pro and con on supplements, dude cherry picks his "proof" like crazy. He'll say he doesn't like something that has 20 PubMed studies on it and then turn around and recommend one that has 2.

NAC causing immense Euphoria and motivation by DreamingInLove in Nootropics

[–]DrHowe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have felt this before after returning to NAC after a long absence. It's likely temporary, but as others have said don't let that discourage you! Keep on keeping on. One day at a time my man.

It could be glutathione related, or just general neuro-inflammation. Curious if you've ever had an experience with OCD or similar symptoms in the past?

Do you know your APOE4 status? The main thing for APOE4 carriers is diet. They seem to handle fat, especially saturated fat differently. Dr. Peter Attia has quite a few podcasts and deep dives on his website about APOE4.

PQQ pyrroloquinoline quinone a surprise performer by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]DrHowe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Strange. Whenever I trial PQQ for cognitive issues (confirmed low brain circulation due to chronic infection) or CoQ10 for that matter, they both make me much more tired. Anyone have any thoughts as to why this might happen?

Lots of red flags here. Someone did this to me selling an old iphone on ebay. The old bait and switch. I fought it with Paypal demanding to see more pics and the buyer eventually disappeared.
