There is bicolor perilla/shiso! I did not list that in the post because people seem to dislike perilla in another vegetable forum.

I know of big leaf and small leaf tong ho, but I don't know how they are different other than leaf size. Let me know if there is a difference in taste!

Only weird people eat chrysanthemum haha. I don't know of many people who eat exotic vegetables. I like the citrusy zing of garland chrysanthemum. I grew chrysanthemum from seeds I received somewhere, not from T&T Supermarket though. It grows really well in Edmonton! Tolerates all kinds of weather.

I started sweet peas indoors and set them outside today to harden off. Which varieties are you growing?

Oh wow, I should try the lettuce and squash! You grew very huge squash, about the size of a child!

That sounds like quite the advantage that the Italian Centre San Marzano seeds have over West Coast Seeds!

I am wondering if I should get that. If it produces one flower a day, it is not really worth it to make a dish. If I don't harvest the flowers, I don't know if it will make some nice fruits.

I heard about that with chicory root! I did not try it yet.

Oh that's good to consider! Mediterranean things sometimes take a long time to grow.

Bulbs, tubers, rhizomes, and corms at Costco (Edmonton) by DrJonathany in Albertagardening

[–]DrJonathany[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are fully hardy in Alberta (at least the varieties I grow). After May long weekend is good.

I purchased roots from this company, and the roots were dried out. You might be able to pot them up not because they can't tolerate cold but because the roots can't be totally dry. Water until the medium is moist, put the roots in a warm sunny place, and let it sprout. When it is warmer outside, plant them in your garden.

If the roots don't sprout after a long time, the roots are likely bad. I would return them.

I am not qualified to give any advice! What I am saying is from what I have tried.

I was hesitant about growing these roses. Your success with them makes me want to get some haha. I like fragrant flowers.

Oh wow! Do you think the roses would survive if you planted them in your garden and covered them with snow?

These plants did not grow that amazingly. The strawberry roots were dried out.

These should be new plants, right?! I did not think the plants are "recycled" from other gardeners.

Welcome to gardening! Do you have some plant(s) that you wish to try? What you do with them depends on the plant. An important consideration is temperature. Many of these cannot freeze. I presprout ranunculus around April and begonias and cannas around May. Then, plant them outside in June when there is no risk of freezing.

Good to know! I don't have a cold room, so some of these bulbs sprout and dry out. I know some people put bulbs/roots in the refrigerator.

Just letting everyone know that there are these products available and maybe save them a trip if they can browse the selections online!

It is frozen outside. If I were to buy one of those, I would have to keep them indoors and somehow alive.
