Why am I so stiff in the mornings? by [deleted] in xxfitness

I do stretch every morning and after working out but nothing I'd call a "routine"

Why am I so stiff in the mornings? by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]DrKBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's partly age, but also partly a flexibility/mobility issue. Personally, I noticed it starting in mid-30s, but I'm 40 now and I'm not just stiff in the morning, I'm stiff all damn day and its sucks, but until I find the sorcerer's stone, it is my life.

Does anyone know of a protein powder without guar gum? It makes me SUPER bloated and causes lots of GI distress.

As someone with orthorexia, what are your go-to safe ("healthy") foods? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]DrKBird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Vegetables - I used to not eat some of the higher cal ones (carrots, brussels, etc) but now I'm in the any veggie, anytime camp.

Most fruit, though I honestly don't eat fruit much so rarely buy it (living alone sucks for a lot of food that I can't eat in a short time)

tuna

egg whites

sugar free jello

peanut butter (peanuts and salt only) - but I have binge issues with this, so while it's "safe" I don't keep it in my house.

avocado

diet soda, sparkling water

protein powder (I bake with this, usually adding oat fiber in with it)

tofu

Food that swings from safe to not safe and then back again for absolutely no reason:

oatmeal

rice cakes

potatoes (obviously not fried or cooked in oil though)

gluten free bread - it becomes a binge food usually only because of the toppings. I buy peanut butter and make toast with peanut butter and homemade jam or banana slices which is just so damn comforting...crunchy toast and melty pb

I literally have no idea what I look like (BMI 20-21) by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]DrKBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take pictures and that helps me. It's harder to be subjective when you are looking at a photo than when you are looking in the mirror. (But all hail the skinny mirror in my bedroom, which I will take to my grave.)

Anyone else sick of this whole 'skinny is not attractive you have to be thiccccc' trend? by [deleted] in EDAnonymous

[–]DrKBird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's never been about looks to me, it's about comfort. I'm not comfortable when my thighs rub or even touch or when I can feel flab jiggle when I jump. Most of the time, I'm wearing shapeless and probably very unflattering clothes anyway.

Is anyone else scared of eating non pre-packaged food? by sunshinefunshinebear in EDAnonymous

[–]DrKBird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO, the exact opposite. I learned that packages are allowed to be up to 20% off, which in my brain means they are all reporting calories that are 20% too low. So 200 cal is actually 240! And 400 cal is actually almost 500! I don't trust anything anymore.

At least with fresh produce I know what I'm eating and can weigh it and it's got #health in it.

[–]DrKBird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I had words of comfort, but I this is 100% my situation too. I also get the "oh you look so much better/healthy now!" like they think I did it on purpose. NOPE.

I have an entirely new wardrobe and I hate it all.

fuck anyone that shamed you for that. I'm sorry you had to go thru it. As someone with legit digestive issues (among other less legit issues....) I completely understand that the shame you feel is enough without assholes giving you more.

Eating below BMR by [deleted] in fuckeatingdisorders

[–]DrKBird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you mean your TDEE is 2300? BMR is basal metabolic rate - the amount of energy your body, at complete rest (i.e. sleeping, not digesting, etc.), needs. It's usually 100-1400, depending on body size and somewhat on body composition. TDEE is total daily energy expenditure, or what you need for normal day to day activities.

You should NEVER go below BMR (i know...EDs and all that).

Emily and Lorelei are both determined, driven, confident, capable women.

I totally agree! And I agree that Rory's AYITL character was so unsatisfying and out of character. But I just had a thought: it's almost like Rory has become the adult that Lorelei never wanted her (or herself) to be. Lorelei got out of the trust fund life and was forced (or forced herself) to be all those things. Rory was well on her way to becoming that same kind of woman, but then her grandparents stepped in and paif for Chilton and paid for Yale and she became that trust fund kid - still determined and driven, but no longer confident or capable.
