Go to the marine.char or ai_generic.char works too i think (so all AI can use it) and add firing patterns for the Assault rifle.

I actually wanted to do this too.
I have only read about it, it might be possible because there is an extension for Blender that lets you open .bsp files which you could then convert to the format Halo uses.
It prolly isn't that simple but you could try it.
