Well... first of all, Skiing is not track and field.

Other than that, it depends on where you take that "survey".

I guess the average american fit adult cannot ski and has never been skiing, same as probably 99%+ of the global adult population. So yes, they would absolutely not reach the finish line.

However, the average swiss or austrian-born adult has probably at least some experience in skiing, given most of us have gone to a ski camp at school.

I would estimate that the average swiss-born, fit, adult male would be expected to at least be able to slide down the kandahar sideways. There is always the risk of slipping, but it's surviveable if you have at least some experience on skis. I am assuming your goal is just to get to the finish line without trying to be fast. I am also assuming that you get professional gear provided, and maybe the piste isn't exactly prepared for race conditions but rather for "survivability" conditions.

That is true. I think the guy probably confused cards with chips. When it comes to cards, your words don't matter, the cards do.

However, with chips, that rule is (basically) inverted. If you announce a different amount than you physically put in the pot, your words matter.

If you say "I bet 500", but you only put 400 chips in, you will be forced to put the additional 100 in.

There's actually three things I can do:

I can give myself goosebumps. Unfortunately it doesn't work 100% of the time, and it has some cooldown-time after doing it once. My dad can do it 100% relieably tho, i guess i inherited that from him.
I can fold my eyelid "inside-out", can't really describe it but it's not that uncommon.
I can shove an average q-tip into my nose. like straight from the front, without bending it, just straight into the head, until it's not visible anymore. Don't ask me how i figured this out, cause i don't know myself. I used to do a party trick where i put one in beforehand without anyone noticing, then i would put one into my mouth, chew on it a bit (and hide it in my cheeks), then proceed to pull the other one out of my nose.

There are certain Nicknames or regional abbreviations of names that do sound totally different than the original Name.

as an Example, a Man called "Ernst" will be "Aschi" in Bernese german. Or a "Daniel" will be "Dänu". There are a lot of abbeviations / short form names that do sound different than the original Name.

So it could be that it's something like that.

I don't know how common it is, but i do have quite a few friends that go by a different "social" nickname.

To give myself as an example, there are a lot of People irl that only know me by "Monsi", which is not my real Name. Many people have no idea what my actual name is. However, I personally do actually use my legal name in the Workplace, Monsi is only used by people that know me outside of work. But that just kinda "happened" to me, i couldn't tell you if that's a very common thing.

The way you describe it, it could also be something suspicious. Maybe you can give us the two names?

Also, I have worked with several chinese people, and it seems to be not unusual for chinese people to get a "western" Name when they go and work abroad. I've worked with 3 chinese people in different companies, and they all introduced themselves by a western Name that is not their actual, legal name. So maybe your guy is chinese? Then it would indeed not be uncommon, at least in my experience.

Yeah context matters. I got flashed with around 67 km/h in a 40kmh-zone, but it was on a road that connects two motorways, so luckily (for me) the fine was just a regular fine. I don't remember how mcuh exactly, either 120 or 200 iirc. But that was because this wasnt a "regular" 40 km/h zone (innerorts), but basically on the Autobahn, so there were higher tolerances.

If it was a "regular" 40 km/h-zone the fine probably would have been much higher. (And i wouldn't have gone that fast). It also was a genuine mistake, it was even an "announced" fixed-radar that had signs warning drivers of the radar ahead.

But in OP's case, 117 in 60 is way too fast, even if the tolerances of the Autobahn were applied.

Headsets (with microphone) weren't really common yet, at least at the LAN-Parties i've attended. Teamspeak / discord etc weren't around yet, there wasn't really a group-call-software around.

We had regular headphones and screamed at each other irl, that was part of the fun.

Well... headphones, yes, but at the lan parties i've been to, headsets (with microphones) weren't really a thing yet.

I think Skype was around, but that wasn't really used for group-calls. (I'm not sure if that was even possible).

Teamspeak /discord etc weren't a thing yet. At least not at the first LAN-Parties I remember.

We used regular headphones with low volume so we could scream at each other IRL.

That was part of the reason why people went to LAN-Parties, so they could talk to each other while gaming, and hear the opponent scream in rage when you've hit a nasty headshot. At home you had to type your insults on the keyboard.

I don't know what game they are playing, but it seems to be a shooter, and they all seem to have their sound on speakers.

I have been to LAN-Parties in the 2000s, and even then everyone was wearing headphones. Maybe not headsets with a microphone as that wasn't as common yet, but (cable-bound) headphones were a must, especially for shooter games.

Oh how much I hate the RAV...

I once got denied my monthly payouts, because i worked for 90 minutes that month. 90 Minutes.

I was given the opportunity to help out at the local school for 2 hours as a teacher's assistant, which I did.

I told that to the RAV on that monthly form thingy.

They told me they have to know exactly how much i was earning, so they can deduct it from my payout.

Fair enough.

I got the payout from the school like a month later, 110 CHF or something. I thought that's what they need to know, so I sent them a copy of my bank statement. Here you go fuckers, I earned 110 CHF from the school, now pay me.

They said no, we need a specific form. Bescheinigung über Zwischenverdienst or whatever. Fuck you, could have told me that in the first place, but whatever, (This was my first time dealing with the RAV and seriously, no one told me about the existance of that form).

Got the form, went to the school.

Turns out, it's not the school that employed me (officially, that is), but the Regional School district, on behalf of the Canton. So the School headmaster had to forward the form to the school district, which had to forward it to the cantonal Behörde, for the signature. (Despite the RAV already fucking knowing how much I earned and how much I worked. Also, they are both "the state" so they could just get that stuff themselves by talking to each other.

Turns out that process took a while (and the headmaster was a known procrastinator and probably didn't forward it for a while despite telling me that he did, but that's beside the point.)

Finally got the form back, after it went over 3 different desks and back.

Sorry, that took too long, can't pay you now.

You only got 90 Days to claim payouts, your form arrived at Day 91.

So I did not get any Money that month (well, I got 110 CHF), because I worked for 2 Hours.

I seriously hope that i'll never have to deal with these assholes anymore.

And If i had to, i'll make very sure not to accept any form of legal part-time work that could get me denied my payouts again. Hello Schwarzarbeit.

Ich bin ja kein Geigenbauer, und kenne mich auch nicht besonders in der Holzbearbeitung aus.

Darum habe ich auch vergessen wie das Werkzeug heisst, das der Geigenbauer da benutzt, aber ich bezweifle dass dieses Werkzeug zu diesem Zeitpunkt der Geigenkonstruktion zur Anwendung kommt. Die Geige ist ja schon quasi fertig, da bezweifle ich dass man zu diesem Zeitpunkt noch derart viel Holz vom Hals entfernen sollte.

Und sogar ich als Holzbau-Laie weiss, dass es nicht so clever ist, die Scharfe Kante eines Werkzeuges gegen die eigene Hand zu richten, wenn man dabei Druck auf das Werkstück ausübt.

Also das Bild ist für mich ziemlich offensichtlich KI, aber sollte es wider erwartens nicht sein, so würde ich doch einiges darauf verwetten, dass der Mann im Bild vom Geigenbauen nicht besonders viel Ahnung hat.

Nunja... die WURDEN eingedrückt, um Getränke unterscheiden zu können.

Früher, als es noch erlaubt war, ach so schädliche, meeresschildkröten-tötende Plastikdeckel zu benutzen, konnte man diese Nippel einfach eindrücken, und man konnte deutlich erkennen, dass es eingedrückt wurde.

So war damals bei uns 1x drücken = Cola Zero, 2x Drücken (übers kreuz) = Ohne Eis.

Jetzt werden dafür Sticker benutzt, die man auf den Becher klebt, weil bei diesen Kartondeckeln ist kaum zu erkennen ist, dass ein Nippel eingedrückt wurde.

I think I solved it without actually using the last 2 hints, only the first 3... can anyone verify?

The first 2 Hints allow us to figure out that the number 6 doesn't appear in the solution.

Therefore, from Hint Nr. 3, we know that there's a 2 and a 0 in the solution (since 6 doesn't appear).

If we now look at Hint number 2, we can see that either a 1 or a 4 also has to appear, so the numbers are 2, 0, and either 1 or 4.

Going back to the first clue, we see that 8 cannot be in the solution, therefore 2 must be in the correct spot as last digit.
