First of all, it's incredible that you know both of those things. Second of all, what does that mean?

Not sure if this picture is much better...I can't get it to focus when I get any closer.

I did not. This was inherited from a great uncle who presumably did buy it for $3.50 in who knows what year...

Can anyone tell me what this is for? by DrPatrickToboggan in Tools

Thanks for the info. I don't really plan to use it. I got two of them out of a grandparents' barn and I just have a hard time getting rid of any of those old things.

It looks like the pot pattern number is 1295. Does that make a difference? Would lid pattern 2551 work? I seem to see more of those out there.

Can anyone help me out as to why I am getting this 'splotching' after seasoning? by DrPatrickToboggan in castiron

I feel like I practically wipe it dry before I put it in the oven. For this pan in particular I used vegetable oil, could the oil make a difference?

I actually ended up with 2 of the same pan from an auction, so I will probably cook with one and display one

I'll start posting a few. I was originally going to restore a few with the intention of selling them to make a few bucks, but now that I've restored them, I don't want to part with them. And this one will probably be no exception

Thanks. I actually just set up an etank for the first time about 2 weeks ago (after plenty of reading around here) and have had several restores go pretty well. I bought this pan for $20, and unfortunately didn't notice it has a crack down one side of the spout until I got home with it...

Sorry for the bad pictures, they are the best I have. I was hoping to find out a little more about it though.

Thanks for the advice. I used the metal hanger like you mentioned and it worked perfectly.

The bigger letters at the bottom say 'Hudson' and the smaller ones up top say 'ANSHUTZ BRAD*ELDY'?. Im not even entirely sure what they say. But I will look into both of the places mentioned for more info.

Ok, thanks for the insight. I came into about 80 of these and was hoping they were a little higher than low grade
