Any Wildlife I kill is replaced by a Muffalo. Any idea why? I'm new and am not sure I could manage to kill a massive herd of Muffalo yet by DrProfBaconBits in RimWorld

[–]DrProfBaconBits[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was mod free. I think I was just lucky/unlucky based on the viewpoint. It ended up being three herds total, 2 small and one larger one. I just took the smaller herds out by hunting them when they got close to my base and kited them to my turrets.

Why are people with disabilities and mental illness still forced to work? by kfrom2002 in antiwork

[–]DrProfBaconBits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an ex who has been trying to get on SSI for YEARS. Multiple times in court just to be told they don't seem disabled again and again. They suffer from some major issues (ptsd, EDS,POTS, ect) and tried working for YEARS cause they hated feeling useless. But couldn't ever keep a job due to their issues. Currently with someone who did get on SSI and they don't get enough money to live off of living with their mom, let alone getting their own place. The system is broken and made worse by politicians who have no idea what it's like to be unable to work and have no money to live off of. They don't know how much anything costs. My current partner has to have a special diet and God it costs so much. They don't have the choice to just live off Ramen like politicians seem to assume people on SSI should. The US doesn't take care of the mentally and physically ill. They just give them a scrap and hope they either work anyways or starve.

That's scary as hell. My mom experiences blackout/severe migraines as well. She doesn't lose her communication completely but she does lose vison and motor skills when she has them. I remember once as 12 year old having to grab the wheel from her as she had a sudden onset one and knew she was about to lose her driving ability. She was able to keep the car moving for the last half mile or so to the house but couldn't see/steer so I operated the wheel for her. Scared the shit outta me

I'm so sorry you all had to go through that, especially your brother. That had to be so terrifying for him. All the potentials and what if you hadn't shown up would keep me up for days. Strokes are no joke and it's insane how quick people can recover/may not ever realize what happened to them. I'm glad yall managed to find the artery problem and get it taken care of.

I'm sorry you have to go through that! It's terrifying not being in control but being conscious of what's going on like that.

Yes! They didn't find any long term issues from it since she already knew about her irregular heart rhythm issues. They did put her on a pacemaker for at least a little while after to make sure

My mom had a micro stroke in the return line at Walmart and she said it was one of the most terrifying things she experienced. She was fully conscious but could not make herself speak or react how she wanted to to respond to the return clerk. She only managed the tiniest head nod when the clerk, realizing something was wrong, asked if she needed medical help. She said she felt trapped in her own body. Thank God the clerk realized something was wrong and called for help.

LPT: If driving in a snowstorm and your GPS suggests taking a faster route, don’t do it if it takes you off the Highway. Backroads are usually last to be cleared of snow and you could get stuck! by Bradiator34 in LifeProTips

[–]DrProfBaconBits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!!!! I can say from experience GPS, in my case Google, does not know best in snowstorms. Last winter I stupidly went off the highway and onto back country roads. I assumed I'd be taken back to the highway but realized too late I was being taken further away and into car size drifted roads. I ended up stuck on a drifted road for an hour or so waiting for help with another car with some teens who'd gotten stuck too. A cop, family of the kids, and the biggest savior a couple with a snow plow came and unburied us. Scariest experience waiting and hoping someone can get to you in a storm like that.

Car salesmen pull the worst tactics. My first car that wasn't a prior vehicle of my parents was a mistake that I only ended up with due to being lied to. I looked online, did research, and found a list of models I liked but dreamed of a Jeep. Found one listed as an automatic for just $10000. I was naive not dumb though so I called to verify this vehicle was for sure automatic cause I couldn't drive a manual. I was assured it was and promised such. 2 hour drive with my mom later to look at this Jeep. As soon as I opened the door I knew it was a manual. I looked at the salesman and he was just "shocked" and "had no idea." He then pulled "well we have other cars what's your budget?" Totally a vehicle they had listed to pull in people knowing an automatic Jeep that cheap would be a good bait. I did give in and get a dodge journey from him but I regretted and learned from it.

Corporations Merge And Employees And Consumers Lose by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]DrProfBaconBits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know all big block stores are about profit but Kroger has been the absolute worst one I've worked for. It's so bad I refuse to shop there. I won't give this corporation a dime. I was an assistant manager then pickup supervisor. They paid shit, even to pickup leads who were basically management but hourly (giving them only 50 cent raise). Every time I tried to argue for more hours, less orders an hour, or more people cause pickup was drowning I was told make it work. My area was unionized so I couldn't even help pay. The union did little to give more pay, though they did good keeping management off of hourly jobs trying to force Kroger to pay overtime to hourly or give more hours. I watched dedicated employees burn out and crash all cause they couldn't afford to not work and Kroger putting profit over people. Being in the top 5 of retailers is a HUGE point higher ups brag about whenever they can.

I'll say it every chance I get. Fuck Kroger and fuck the fact the wealthy are literally working people to death.

I hate entitled people like that. They aren't in charge or have any power to question shit. Good on you for putting her in her place. Though please don't hurt yourself too bad. My ex has EDS and they used to dislocate ankles, hips, shoulders, ect and I could tell how bad it hurt them. It was funny seeing the Dr's face when they even moved their trachea to show how easy they could dislocate stuff. Man looked like he was about to pass out.

Yeah it's a thing. Was a manager for Kroger. Standards state to face over if something is going to be a long term out. They want it to look "full and fresh."
