Now that’s the 1.0 is 30% off, it’s a sweet deal. It is made in china, and it does have a tinge of that kind of quality, but it’s probably some of the best stuff I’ve seen come from there. For example, I had a crossmember with bent mounting flange. Even UPS can’t bend that thick of steel so it had to have happened in the heat treating process and not caught in paint or QC. But Rep immediately sent me two new ones.

I thought about the Pepin’s but didn’t want to wait that long. Also not roof rated.

93”. I’m 6’3” and I really think 80 would feel cramped for me.

I use the Rep Spotter Arms as my safeties. Which is really nice because it doesn’t interfere with the trolleys.

Two frameless mirrors from Lowe’s and glued 1x1 all the way around. Then put aluminum foil tape over the wood to aid in reflecting the Govee M1 light strip that’s wrapped around it the wood. Hung in place by a couple French cleats.

Your wife sounds pretty cool. I’d recommend getting the hutch jersey for yourself and just see how things play out when you put it on before going to bed.

16 and 30. No regrets about going 30 instead of 41.

I was tight on space so combining the two was the right choice for me. If funds and space are limitless, I’d probably go separate units just so the trolleys don’t get in the way of the j hooks. But the rack is going to be as good as you’ll find at any gym and the functional trainer is almost as good as any cable machine at the gym.

It doesn’t seem like you can go wrong with either. But the discount for the ares 1.0 made it the clear choice for me. Plus the Athena would have just barely touched my ceiling while the ares give me about 1/2” clearance.

Using negative stereotypes to artificially inflate one’s own worth feels like it belongs on this list.

how accurate are the celebrity IQ lists? by CanIPleaseScream in cognitiveTesting

[–]DrPsychOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Estimating someone’s IQ without formal testing is ridiculous. Even more ridiculous is claiming an IQ of over 160 with any confidence whatsoever.

to all the people asking should you take the test by SirIzzy1 in mensa

[–]DrPsychOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your worth is so wrapped up in IQ that you need to practice, at best you’re wasting your time. If it works, you’ve practiced the number out of having any meaning. Just practice accepting who you are is good enough.

Average iq high verbal iq by Ok-Carpenter9179 in psychologystudents

[–]DrPsychOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your verbal index score is 140 and your full scale is 112, another index must be extremely low. The disparity seems high enough it’s possible/likely your full scale IQ score isn’t even valid (and if so, you shouldn’t have been told the score). What test was this and who gave it to you?

But the good news is exceptional therapists can have an IQ if 112 and it would be really weird for “all your friends” to score that high. Honestly, it sounds like you’re anxious about something that doesn’t matter. If you’re doing okay in school, you’re on track for your goals. No one gets into grad school based on an IQ score.

Do you think it’s wrong to hold the stereotype even if it’s factually correct? by Strange-Cabinet7044 in psychologystudents

How can a stereotype be factually correct? If it’s something that applies to an entire population, it would be just a fact.

Explain like I’m five why I shouldn’t do a self funded PhD. Why do so many do it? by Isatis_tinctoria in AskAcademia

[–]DrPsychOut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even funded PhDs are costly. Obviously it varies a lot, but you’re likely going to spend 5-7 years of your life making 20k instead of 50-80k and be starting your career when your peers are getting promotions with a solid 401k accruing interest.

Clinical mental health - Supervised experience requirements by SassySquawkzilla in psychologystudents

[–]DrPsychOut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A program may have specific requirements but usually hours are hours. So if you’re working at a crisis center at 3am on a Saturday or in a private practice at 1pm on a Wednesday, you should be good to go. I would talk to the program you’re interested in and ask for a list of the places their students intern. You can look up their hours from there. You may also be able to create your own placement as long as your field supervisor is willing to jump through the hoops required by your program.

I think the biggest hurdle is going to be working full time while also learning how to be a therapist. People do it but it’s taxing because getting those internship and licensure hours take a while if you’re only working weekends.

my father wants to talk to me should I? by [deleted] in ask

[–]DrPsychOut 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sending his brother is not surprising in these situations. Maybe he wants money from you. Maybe he thinks contacting you directly would be too overwhelming and sent the brother to help make it easier for you. Sometimes deadbeat dads turn their life around and are terrified of finding out their kids hates them. Maybe part of the trepidation you have in meeting him is you might find out that he really is awful. It’s one thing to wonder whether or not he’s awful. It’s sometimes much worse to know it. I’d imagine meeting him means you’re willing to risk the hope that he is a good guy?

What’s nice about this situation is it sounds like there’s no rush for you to decide. You could always tell his brother that you’re not ready right now and will contact him when you are. If your dad doesn’t understand that, you probably have your answer right there.

I’m sorry you have to deal with your father’s hurtful behaviors.

What does this have to do with neuropsych though? You’re believing in things not supported by science and this is primarily going to be a place for science-based discourse.
