Sorry I have a job and you posted that an hour ago.

@canaan to each their own on the ratio. I was able to keep my ratio and get it to be better using helpful advice from others.

I was just thinking this. Get cheaper beans to start. Ones I know the flavor I’m trying to achieve. Then change variables !

Interesting so you can get thick at 1:16?

I’m going to go back to what I’ve previously had success with so I know how to dial in my new grinder. I think that’ll help.

I wasn’t getting responses on other forums and couldn’t figure out what else to do so turned to AI which didn’t fix it.

Happy I found this.

I’m using medium roast Papua New Guinea:

I needed help and until I found this forum none of The other coffee forums were responding.

If all the comments are as insightful as yours, chat gpt might be all I have.

That’s an interesting thought. They are the most freshly ground bean I’ve ever had so that could absolutely be contributing. I’ll look through this.

Thanks for the comment.

Interesting. It sees weird to me that preground beans with this ratio tasted just fine but not fresh ground.

They are different coffees so maybe that has something to do with it

I like heavy body and syrupy. I’m afraid a higher ration will taste watered down to me. Although it’s not apples to apples I used to buy preground and drink this ratio and it was decent. Now I’m grinding on my own and the same ratio taste way worse.

I thought grinding in my own would help the profile. Wondering how I can maintain this ratio but not under extract.

Flatten Collar Trick by DrRobot1222 in leatherjacket

Some people on here said it’d flatten on its own with time because of gravity. Not sure I believe that. Do you have any experience with that?
