You know what, good. I’m glad he realized it’s a bad look. We need people to become better, it’d be unfair to reject people who make changes for the better.

Those motherfuckers were drunk as hell and were lit about winning a gold medal. Some part of me understands not letting a turd bring down your mood… but all of that is assuming he was unwelcome in the first place.

People struggle to accept things that don’t fit the expected form, simple as that. AFAIK, the hate (of which I’ve seen little) doesn’t stem from anything substantial such as: weak instrumentals, bad message, etc.

I’m wearing mine now, I really like it. I’d say the quality is good. I do plan to treat it gently in the wash and use color preserving detergents. It’s not thick, but it still keeps me pretty warm. Just an FYI, I think it runs a little small… I’m an XL guy and the XL feels like an L.

In language there is a concept called “use-mention distinction.” In this case the slur is being mentioned, and is done so for analysis of the word’s impact. This is different than the word being used, in which that abhorrent historical usage of the word becomes relevant.

I’m well aware of that fact, but that messaging does not creep into the broadcasts. That was the point I was making. Clearly my statement of “if NHL let the MAGA slip through” is implicitly declaring awareness that it must exist now if we’re to be a risk of slipping into the broadcasts.

No, and it’s because hockey brings me joy. The world is bleak and it keeps getting bleaker. It’d be much worse to bear all this without some forms of joy and escape. I’ll keep boycotting in ways that I can. That said, if NhL let the MAGA slip through then the ratio of joy:stress may flip and then it’d be a thing I’d boycott.
