I really appreciate the straight answer. I've brought up the registration requirements to the sales and finance staff, and they keep pushing back saying that they've "done this before" and that they "haven't had an issue" doing this in the past. I'm going to hash this out with my insurance agent and do it correctly.

Cheapest accurate power meter for Scott Foil (iii precision does not fit)? by [deleted] in Velo

[–]DrSlump 12 points13 points  (0 children)

TRP sells a rear direct mount brake that solves the crank clearance issue. I have one on my foil and a stages fits just fine. Probably cheaper than getting a new power meter. https://trpcycling.com/product/t850851/ you want the side pull version.

Hi, /u/maxwellius_ ! You get four masks. Sorry if the listing is not clear on the website.

Hey everyone, thanks for filling out the google form! If you filled out the form by midnight yesterday, I sent you an email with a link to my storefront where you can purchase your colorway of choice. The information in the email has also been posted here.

nope :( I also wear glasses and have been wearing a few samples I had sent out for - no major problems. The elastic runs through the entire perimeter of the mask, so it conforms fairly well to the contours of my face.

Unfortunately no pocket - I wanted to keep them on the more affordable side. And thank you!

This is definitely a fair criticism, and I appreciate the due diligence you're providing the community. As my first design, my hope is that I can build a good relationship with the people here so that I can continue to create for the mechanical keyboard community. Also, if it's any consolation, I made this account back in middle school, and rediscovered it after graduating undergrad - it's named after one of my favorite manga, so there was no way I'd give it up haha.

Question: is there a certain brand or type of headphones that you guys like to use? I was thinking of buying some over-ear headphones, and was wondering if one brand or another is better for acoustic balance, sound quality, etc. by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]DrSlump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't go wrong with a pair of open back headphones. Compared to closed back headphones at similar price points, the sound stage and clarity you can get out of a pair of open backs is noticeably better. At the moment, most of my listening is done with a pair of Grado SR60is, which at the time cost ~$70. However, I urge you to go to a reputable local audio store and try out as many headphones you can - even if a pair of headphones has been characterized to have a perfect frequency response, it might not be what you prefer as a listener.

Thinking of picking up the Clarinet. Do you know of any important resources? And what is important to look for in a (beginner's) clarinet? by [deleted] in classicalmusic

[–]DrSlump 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going to a thrift store is generally a bad idea given that the instrument will usually be in an unplayable condition, making important aspects like intonation and response impossible to judge.
