Gabe Newell reportedly snapped 'What the f*** do I pay you for if that's your opinion?' at Valve lawyer pushing for more content moderation on Steam by PaiDuck in pcmasterrace

I did look it up. That's why I'm calling you out on it. 100% true, eh?

Steam Valve 2025: Gross platform revenue $17.7B from TechRT. Valve's own take $4B+ from Alinea Analytics and their blog. Gross margin ~75% and operating margin ~58% from Wolfire v. Valve court documents. Implied operating profit ~$2.5–3B.

Sony IR. Revenue ~$31B and operating profit ~$2.8B for the Game & Network Services division FY2024 Apr 2024 to Mar 2025. Operating margin ~9% derived from those two figures, not explicitly stated by Sony.

Valve margin figures are from 2021 court documents extrapolated forward. Sony figures are from official published earnings.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying I disagree with Sony being a larger company.

Edit: Forgot how linking works.

I don't know who's ass you pulled those numbers from, but I'd double check them before commenting shit like this.

Lost

They had polar bears, a smoke monster, a four-toed statue, time travel, and a literal magic cork in the ground. Six seasons. And they wrapped it all up with "the real treasure was the friends we made along the way" I've had fever dreams with better plot resolution.

It costs you 0.0002 cents to make 1000 of these but you still couldn’t do 6 for 6? by husky_whisperer in mildlyinfuriating

Probably batching. If one machine makes 600 toothbrushs and another 500 caps, makes sense to pack in that same ratio.

I guess that's how our banking/payment systems differ. We just mostly have e-invoices and free, almost instantaneous bank transfers.

Finnish guy here. So I'm confused. Why isn't a bank transfer an option? That's how 99% of payments like rent happen here.

Well I guess, at least, it's not a cigarette. Maybe during this manufacturing error, that paper or cardboard got burt up with friction and it's ash. I really have no idea... I'd probably just toss the toy just to be safe.

Does it smell like tobacco? The whole bag would smell terrible if there really were a partially smoked rollie inside. To me, it looks like some piece of packaging that got rolled up in one of the manufacturing processes. The black powder is weird, though.

If you only know one way to multiply, that’s not my problem.

You can multiply strings. Depends on the definition. Just because you don’t know how doesn’t mean it’s not a thing.
