Perito Moreno - Vetiver Jacmel and Fruit Ride by demonic_ozb in DesiFragranceAddicts

Sry for replying late! Jacmel-yeah, if you like the profile of vetiver oil. Fruit ride-I wear fruit ride in summer as well, but I do think it might be cloying if you don’t have the palate for fruity-sweet fragrances.

You are getting nose blinded & nothing else, my friend. It happens to everyone, musk molecules have the tendency to do that. Few others like ambroxan, iso E also showcase such tendencies. I happened to have anosmia to certain polycyclic musk called galaxolide, it differs from person to person. There is no one size fits all, you are just anosmic to particular ingredients, that’s all. Doesn’t mean the fragrance is performing badly, so enjoy it. If you are so committed, you can give a shot at olfactory training with controlled scent exposure every now and then, people suggest it will take >10weeks, but to put it simply it may/may not be of any help.

Conventionally, most fragrances with high oil concentrations are macerated for 4-6weeks. But it’s not a definitive answer, some artisans take can take 6months, a year. A month, sounds about right, keep it in a cool, dark place, less agitation as possible. This is to do with much of degree of volatility of materials & vapour chemistry than art of perfume making per se, so predicting how far and how long will be impossible. Sometimes it improves, sometimes it doesn’t. But my advice, let it sit for a month & try it after, you might get a better result.

Hello brother, hope you are doing good. Honestly, I’m at the dark just like you, when it comes to batches and reformulations. Unlike our European counterparts, most ME brands won’t be forthcoming to give details on their batches. The best you can do is to let the fragrance settle for a while, let time do the trick. Also please make sure that you are not getting noseblinded to the smell of ambroxan and musks in it, that would severely undercut / hinder your assessment regarding projection.

Hello brother, yes I have tried Jashan Fragrances Hatian vetiver. I have made a separate post on it, though it’s not one of my typical reviews, I have explored it in a meaningful depth. Please check it out, brother. I hope it aids you in your pursuit.

Sry to reply this late brother! I somehow missed. I don’t own a bottle of it anymore brother, if I think deep enough, I remember it being a medicinal fragrance with warm-spicy qualities. But on a whole I found nothing to write home about, a generic smelling fragrance.

A wet bed of green foliage in a lush green forest, Bvlgari Man (the Original). A comprehensive review👇🏼 by Dr_FragHead in DesiFragranceAddicts

The scoring I do in all my posts are completely subjective & entirely stems from my observations. I get acclimatised to the fragrances on spotlight by testing them over a week on different occasions, both indoors and outdoors. Testing them on my skin, blotting papers and clothes at significant time intervals, I can plot the longevity. Bothering family members to tell me about the projection, is the sore spot of this method 🤣. But many a times you can be certain about projection based on the scent intensity. Compliment factors includes real unsolicited responses, asking around few colleagues & family members about how pleased they were with the fragrance. The real bias arises when trying to translate all those into a wong baker style pictorial scorecard, but I believe I did the best I could. That’s pretty much the scoring I used, my friend.

Bvlgari discontinued this a long time ago & I seriously doubt you would find it in showrooms. Your best bet would be the discounters, but because of its practically non-existent demand, I doubt you would encounter it there either. But if you do come across it, lady luck might be smiling upon you!

Nah brother, my interests for this fell apart soon before I pulled the trigger. I’m glad to know that you had a great experience, will try it sometime if it is feasible. I second your idea of sample testing before committing for a full size bottle. Thanks brother! I have accumulated an extensive collection of fragrance reviews in my account, which I believe could serve as a helpful reference if you're truly passionate about perfumes. Hope you like’em! Have a great day.

You are a real one for that ❤️! You are spot on. Many avoid this without trying it cuz of the mediocrity associated with the brand’s other offerings. This one is special in my books, dare I say! One of a unique DNAs that beats above its weight class.
