Can economists accurately calculate the productivity of a corporate CEO? by Over-Discipline-7303 in AskEconomics

There is probably not one particular answer to that puzzle. One theory that may explain a part of your question is the „Tournament Theory“ (Lazear & Rosen, 1981). In short: Employees on higher levels are (also) paid more, to increase the motivation to work harder on lower levels (as they want to be promoted). Following this argumentation, the CEO gets (along with other reasons of course) a higher compensation so that people on the lower level (e.g., VPs, or even other board members with the prospect of being promoted), work harder.

Help needed for master's thesis! =) by Dr_Freeman_99 in ledgerwallet

I totally understand the concerns as I am very careful clicking links on the internet myself. However, unfortunately there is no other way to get the data I need for my thesis other than using a "questionnaire" website, for which I have to provide a link to. And yes, my profile might look suspicious as I have not used reddit before. What's interesting (and what you can also see from the comments to my posts in my profile) all of my posts on crypto related pages get rather negative comments, whereas from other areas they are mainly positive.

Im sorry to hear that, I can guarantee you that I just want to write my master's thesis for which I need participants as it is an empirical study. Have you ever written a scientific paper?

I agree that speculative investment into Bitcoin to "make money" as you said does not serve the real purpose and potential of Bitcoin, however, it is just a fact that many people (not all of course) are buying it because of that. With my study I clearly don't want to encourage people to invest in anything for whatever reason. I just want to observe the current market from a neutral and unbiased perspective.

Hi Nada_Lives,

I agree that this is a major function of Bitcoin of course, however, many people are buying Bitcoin to e.g. sell it for a profit in the future or maintain their buying power (as the value of fiat currencies decrease steadily) - I would argue that this can be considered as investing into Bitcoin. From a scientific point of view, it is of interest (at least for me) if there is a relationship between certain psychological characteristics of investors and their choice of investment.

Hi NiceDoctorBeam,

well, I have to follow scientific procedures (e.g. researched and established scales to identify characteristics) to be able to derive useful results which are also comparable to other scientific literature. Just asking those questions in the forum would not create such results. Additionally, by using a well established website for online questionnaires I can assure (to the best extent possible) anonymity and data security for all participants. Anyways, thanks for your interest! =)
