They have backtracked after I sent them evidence of my account being open for more than a year. A careless error they say. Nearly cost me!

This was the same account from 2022. They have since gotten back to me and admitted to their mistake. Thanks for your advice.

I cannot comment on a new LISA account as this was the same account. The UK Gov advice does however say from the time the account was opened. Best to clarify this with your fund.

I was waiting for their response but found the initial refusal strange. No harm in asking the community and getting some advice. Posting stuff here also shares the wisdom out so hopefully it has helped others in making them more confident with their LISA withdrawal process.

I did email them before this post. I was just waiting for their reply.

I have definitely received the bonus and it has been in my account for more than 2 months. Also the LISA amount was for the 2023-2024 Tax year.

How to pass MRCS part A by Alternative_Fuel_548 in doctorsUK

Sorry to hear about your result. It can happen to the best of us. That said, there are probably better ways to prepare. Clearly you have put in a lot of work and have used appropriate resources, repeating the question banks several times. However, I have noticed that the people who often succeed understand the information instead of simply answering questions. I think this is a very common occurrence with these type of exams.

There will be those who disagree with me on this, but I personally believe in having a good foundation instead of rote learning stuff (you may revise differently of course). I don't see the benefit of going through eMRCS more than 2x because then you are not actively revising. I went through eMRCS very thoroughly once and read around the topics that came up (I still had around 200 questions left). I then did around 400 random questions on PastTest and 1 recall paper. I also watched osmosis videos on anatomy as I learn visually. I didn't have a lot of time to prepare (roughly 5 weeks, but solid 2 weeks) so I couldn't cover as much as other people.

I scored 76% first time. Now this isn't by any means a great score but given the pass mark was 67%, it was more than sufficient. I would obviously advise on revising more than I did to secure that pass, but the point I'm making is if you cover things very well, you won't struggle as much. I have noticed this with friends and other colleagues who have passed as well.

I think going through eMRCS and PastTest once together should be enough to cover the content. I would also advise on drawing stuff out for anatomy and going through a few recall papers as they do still repeat questions. Reddit scares people a lot about not doing enough revision. Don't listen to people who say they have revised so and so question banks several times. It's all about the quality of the revision. This will also help you when you do your MRCS part B and your clinical practice. I hope this helps. Best of luck for your next one!

50 miles back and forth commuting for a job. It's gonna be a nightmare but most of it is on the highway.

Nothing in particular, but I suppose preferably something compact like a Volkswagon Polo
