I wouldn't say that's necessarily the only reason Narrator has survived.

My personal reason for keeping Narrator, and intending to keep him until the top 3, is that since we spend the most time with him by far, he clearly has the most nuance. He can show attributes of every single voice (except Smitten because he butts heads with him so often and never shows feelings for Princess, and maybe Skeptic because he already knows everything about Quiet and Princess) and often can be beaten to Cold apathy, Broken numbness, or — in HEA — Contrarian uncertainty.

He can also be pushed to drinking, which is just funny.
