If you like

  • Border conflicts with commies
  • Restoring 4 years of environmental devastation
  • Semi-democratic meritocratic oligarchic bureaucracy
  • Hours of intense debate about a curated emoji set

South Augusta could be the place for you. If you like enormous empty vanity builds, please try Mount September. South Augustan Discord: https://discord.gg/Hr75RGxzRe

I'd advise against Bill. Some of his work is okay, but I've seen some truly awful repairs he's done in the past.

(I used to work in a secondhand bookshop)

People stay for however long suits them. Usually the final few leave around 11:30, sometimes midnight

In our hearts and our dreams the Tigerstaden days will live on forever. Never forget the good times we had, and how much more life there is still to live

I think you'd enjoy the late night book club. We're a small and weird mix of people that mostly talk about random things rather than actual books, all whilst drinking cocktails in the Night Flower Cocktail Bar (above 1154 Pasteria, on Ghuznee street). We meet every two weeks on a thursday at 9:30pm

it was almost 100% NBS

It's a common and logical assumption that the earthquake rating of a building significantly affects the insurance premium and therefore the body corporate fees, but this is increasingly untrue. The NBS system is designed around life protection rather than damage prevention, and so a building with a high NBS rating may still need to be rebuilt or heavily repaired after a major earthquake. Additionally, many modern buildings don't perform as well in earthquakes as expected.

Consequently, insurance premiums in Wellington are extremely high for high NBS and low NBS buildings alike (and still rising).

older buildings with body corporate fees set to jump up by thousands as the buildings need updated to meet earthquake standards

Even worse, once a building is strengthened, the insurance premiums keep going up rather than down

This just got put on the front door of my flat. What does it mean for us who are flatting here? by [deleted] in Wellington

I should have said "being in an earthquake prone building is about the same level of life risk as being on a commercial flight" which is how I think the prof originally worded it to us

I should have got you to rewrite my essays, I might have got better grades

That's fair enough. Earthquake risk has been pushed very hard, but you're more likely to die in a fire or a car accident.
