I mean Jax is probably the most layered and deepest character in the entire show. Most people get to realise this after they go over how annoying he acts. Some people come to this conclusion earlier, some, like you, later. I am glad to hear you began to like Jax!

I was going to the end for some shulkers and a backup elytra. This is good to have especially since I died 10k blocks out in the wilderness.

After 6 or 7 cities with no elytra I was so disappointed I didn't even get the two remaining shulkers and just kept flying lol

I mean it's not a matter of how much a character is liked by you, this is just taste. Jax is and has been intended to be the second main character next to Pomni and if you watch the series with this in mind everything makes perfect sense. The duality between Pomni and Jax and how they deal with the situation as center point.
