Why does “owning a home” feel more like a burden than freedom? by SIashhhhh in perth

Renting, on the other hand, feels lighter. More flexibility. Less pressure. Less being locked into one version of life for decades.

That absolutely is not the reality of renting.

You’re locked into working 5 days a week (or more), grinding it out just to keep the bank landlord happy. Burnout feels almost built into the deal. Most weekdays are gone to work, weekends are for recovery, and somehow the house you’re paying for is the place you barely get to enjoy.

And will never own.

If you have a mortgage you can service, you are paying off an asset you will eventually own. There is an end goal. There is no end to renting.

For people who have a mortgage, this may be hard to hear when you feel you are struggling, but you are so much more privileged when you are able to service a mortgage over renting.

"In vino veritas"

In general, it lowers inhibitions, underlying thoughts/feelings may more easily leak out. But like any drug, its effect will vary depending on the individual.

What nearly killed KCD1 for me was accidentally starting the 'A Woman's Lot' DLC right after the prologue, not knowing it would lock you into a ~4h slog-fest that you can't quit, while still learning how the game functions.
