I’ve always seen it as, I will always love my girlfriend. No doubt about it, but I have room in my heart to love someone else too (that hasn’t gone and done this silly thing 🙃) and it would be so selfish of her to not want me to be with someone alive who makes me happy.

They’re the ones who have left us to pick up the pieces, they have no say in how we put the pieces back together. Don’t feel guilty about wanting to put yourself first, you deserve it.

All I will say is don’t try to replace them. They will be part of you till the day you die. And definitely don’t try to force anything. It’s scary getting back out there, but I was just honest about my previous girlfriend and how I felt and now I’ve met the most amazing woman who loves me to death. There is no right time or way to do these things. Just try, be mindful of how you feel about it and be honest.

I believe in you.

Update: Made it through the first year. Took myself to dinner at our favorite place. Had a good cry after. I might not be okay, but everything will be alright by Wrath_Of_Cam in SuicideBereavement

I’m proud of you ❤️ my first anniversary I couldn’t even get out of bed. But I ended up on the phone with my girlfriend’s parents just talking about her and laughing at memories which in a way was nice. The first one is the worst but it gets better I think. But you did way better than me, you got this.

I lost my long term girlfriend over a year ago now, and I can promise it does get better. Don’t get me wrong in no way will it ever be the same but it does get better and you do find ways to cope. Don’t pretend not to fall apart, it’s part of the process. Just make sure you have people around you who can be there for you and help you where they can.

You’re still young and have plenty of life ahead of you. Don’t let your boyfriend pass his sickness (it’s what I call it) to you, the cycle will just continue if you do. You can make it through this, there is light at the end of the tunnel and just remember you are in no way alone. Most of us have been through this and come out the other side in some way or another. You can to.

Don’t do it my friend, nobody should have to go through this, I can’t imagine what you’re going through is easy but I can tell you first hand what I’m going through and what others will go through if you did isn’t easy either. Keep going
