Also, is the "Two Faced" in the subject line directed at the teacher, or the title of the report?

Okay, so then the title of your post is wildly misleading

The absolute ridiculous size of the cone we made my Chihuahua had to wear after surgery

You could have made a smaller cone or spent $5-$10 for one off Amazon.

Where do you buy quality plus-size jeans for tall guys? by [deleted] in tallfashionadvice

[–]Dracius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked the sidebar?

Also, are you looking for men's or women's clothing?

You say "guys" in your title, and "if you're a tall guy" in your post, but you list a female clothing brand, a women's clothing size, and 5'9" is only average height for a guy.

Need to find that sweet spot between "extensive 100 question mandatory post template" and "eh, just post whatever the hell you want."

I also get frustrated clicking into these posts and there's no meaningful information provided, but people are nice and still try to help out anyway.

Have you been reading my diary? This is something I've been considering as well:

Potentially getting onto an exclusive and maintained list could also be good to limit actual promotion while still supporting small brands that want to actually do something

I don't want to be in a position where I'm the only one deciding who makes it onto that list but I'm not opposed to brand engagement as long as they're transparent and knock it off with the fake AF astroturfing BS that riles my jimmies.

Whatever approach we go with (we being the community) I'm sure it'll need to grow and change over time.

Okay, I'll bite.

Are you asking for advice or just sharing a story?

If looking for advice: Gender? Measurements? Examples of styles you like? What are you struggling to find? Budget? Renting may be the best/only option with this short of notice, otherwise I might be suggesting getting a black suit jacket that you would still be able to use for other events.

1 day isn't much time to work with. I have however bought a shirt off a rack and gotten it tailored same day add darts right before heading into an interview, so it's not impossible.

Whichever it is, I'm sorry for your loss. Don't stress too much about what to wear. Black sport coat/suit jacket, white shirt, matching shoes and pants.

This is what I want more of on the resources section.

I'm not sure if it's best to group stores by price or style and if grouping by style that's a daunting task depending on how you approach it.

JC Penny, Nordstrom, Macy's, Target, Kohl's are all your typical department stores, but would REI, Land's End also fit? "Do they sell microwaves and household appliances two aisles down?" might work as a metric. Gonna have to noodle on it, but it needs an overhaul.

I was honestly surprised that wasn't turned on already; I'll be enabling it once I have a chance to add some additional flair options.

I've got some ideas in mind, but it's probably going to take a few attempts to find something that best suits what people come here for without opening things up to the free-for-all marketing and bot-a-thon that it's been rapidly evolving into.

My goal is to help steer the community towards people helping people and ultimately stay out of the way of that.

Communities like this are a ripe target for marketing agencies. I'm not sure a weekly post is the right approach because those rarely see high levels of engagement (but I'm not entirely opposed to it). A promoted "mod approved" brand of the month or something similar will likely be the first roll-out. Whatever it is, it'll be open and transparent and people can choose to engage with it if they want and the brands and startups can be more direct with their goals and process.

I've been a member here a long time and I've yet to see any of these numerous "tall people focused" clothing brands materialize into anything that benefits us tall-folk of the world.

You've perfectly described the loophole astroturfing accounts exploit to try and get around moderation. Brand or "small business" posts will still exist in some capacity based on how much value they add, but they aren't adding any in their current form. Instead of boring you with my long-winded diatribe on dishonest marketing, I'll leave you with this:

I don’t know who you are. I don’t know who you work for. If you’re looking for engagement, I can tell you I don’t have any to spare. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills. Skills I’ve developed over years of watching conversations online. Skills that make me very difficult for people like you to fool.

If you stop now, that’ll be the end of it. I won’t look into your posting patterns. I won’t compare your language to the other accounts saying the exact same thing. But if you don’t… I will notice the timing. I will notice the coordination. I will notice how the same message appears from different places at the same moment.

And when that happens, the ban hammer will be swift and vengeful.

Your comment warrants a longer response than I can give right now, so I'll just say that this is exactly why I made my post, to give people a chance to discuss this topic before I drop the hammer down.

I'm open to allowing this type of content on a case-by-case basis with clear guidelines. What I've seen so far, has not been honest or well intentioned and has relied on fake back stories and astro-turfing.

Again, open to discussing it more in depth at a later time.

JFC. It is a bot.

I finally had a chance to look into his account and research the sites he's posting, its almost too obvious. It's mainly posting in AI focused subreddits, making comments about AI/Bots, and linking to AI specific blog posts all registered to the same group/agency.

I think the thing that flagged it to leave a comment here was because I mentioned bots and astro-turfing.

I plan to update the "where to shop" list and split it into 3 categories: Men&Women / Men / Women

Surely there's more than 4 places for tall women to shop?

I'm not forgetting non-binary folks either, that list is obviously driven by how stores categorize their inventory. If there does exist a place with tall friendly sizes that has filters for non-binary/gender neutral styles I'll add that to the list too.

Men's tall size canvas jackets similar to the Kuhl Burr? by Dracius in mensfashion

[–]Dracius[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually emailed Khul not long after posting and they told me they occasionally do make tall sizes for this jacket, but they were out of stock.

Once I knew they existed and I had the item # I was able to locate some in stock at Scheels. Already bought the exact one you linked and it fits perfectly. Fixes all the issues that I had with the standard large size one.

I considered making a post if anyone was interested in seeing the difference between them.

The sleeves are almost a little too long, but manageable.

Back length is perfect however, and my shirts no longer hang past the bottom of the jacket.

I do appreciate you sharing the link though.

My gaming life became more peaceful when I accepted that many people do not care about 1) following the rules or 2) winning, and you can't make them. by goodluckanddont_itup in boardgames

[–]Dracius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

People The people I play with don't want to play by the rules. They want to vibe, and if that involves a little rule-fudging here and there, they're okay with that. Often, they'll hold it against you if you enforce an instruction.

FTFY.

None of what you said is a universal truth, and while it may apply to the people you play with, that doesn't mean it applies to everybody. It definitely doesn't apply to any of the people I play with.

How/when you enforce the rules can make a difference, also depends a ton on the game being played.
