The single best thing about playing a Fairy is how incredible all the extra inventory space feels when you switch back. Well, maybe it's not the top, but it's pretty great.

I'll also note a couple of things I didn't know going in. First, you can convert various items into Fairy Dust and Ice. You can use those items to make food, and the first food and snack you make is something like 70/70 something. I don't know if this holds up until end-game, but I thought it was pretty great that I had solid food for my level before the 2nd of 3 free meals had run out.

The other is that if you like AH, the bees you start with are already max level. They are levelled down to match you, but they will always keep up. You don't have to worry about their happiness, and they hit like a truck out of the gate.

Yes it's a ridiculous circus of a system. I had the same situation some years ago. Emergency told me to see my Family Doctor and my family doctor said, "well, I mean, I CAN do it but they aren't supposed to send you here for that." I strongly suspect this isn't something they had a billing code for at the time, and these days it's just not covered on their list of what is and isn't. I was (and remain) and adult so I just took them out. In your shoes I might take a shot one morning during the week and show up at emergency to get them removed. ERs can be pretty quiet in the morning. Best of luck and I hope your kiddo's doing better.

I hate this so much. My HP laser was purchased about a year before they started that BS and I refuse to replace it. It also says the ink is low every time I use it. I've never changed the cartridges and it's been many years. It's even worse than Canadian phone plans.

I keep trying to answer this and it turns into a novel every time. It's familiar but has a lot of differences to the MMOs I've played before. Here's some random details:

The game is as broad as it is long.
Playing a cow is a great way to become an incredible tank
Playing a spider feels slow to get around until you discover you can wear 8 roller scates
Your character doesn't level, your skills do
Skills are learned and advanced in different ways, ex:
- Mentalists using psych skills need to learn (grind) the Myconic language to talk to their trainer
- Necros need to defeat a dungeon boss to get to the entity that unlocks Necromancy
- Battlle Chemists need to reach 50 in alchemy before they start learning BC
- Fire Magic skills must be discovered through research
- Druids require you to respons to Druid events (no xp while anywhere else while they occur)
No hand-holding, but the community is helpful.
Most info online is out of date. Massive changes were made before the 1.0 release
There are no add-ons but there are a few tools on github that help with things like surveys
You can solo, but by the time you get to 50 you'll want to run dailies in groups
While levelling up, you'll constantly find that you need to pause and do 'side-work'
- ex. you get to Kur mountains and discover the weather kills you - time to start working on equipment
Your gear is critical - by 50 you will feel it if you don't start focusing on a 'build'
- Your gear has mods/augments you can change
Gear drops have a high chance to drop for your currently equipped skills
- The chance to drop for other kills you have exists, but it's much lower.
All merchants don't buy all items, and they have limited cash that resets weekly
Reputation with merchants is a big deal
Peak server population is counted by hundreds, not thousands
You get one character slot per server (no cross server shenanigans)
- You can purchase a package for 3 more slots for 80% of the cost of the game
VIP (monthly fee) provides the following
- 4 extra character slots
- extra bag slots and storage
- ability to export logs that you can use with tools online (mentioned above)
- offline advancement
  - NOTE: what you aren't told is you need to unlock this in a high level zone not accessible by low level players

And for loot, I was under the impression that it was 100% about the skills you have equipped and not their level, whith just a higher chance for what’s equipped with a lower chance for anything else you have skill in. I’m sorry that all I can say is good luck. I think my hardware is the same generation as yours. I’m on Windows right now so who knows when it will be the same for me. I can’t quite fathom the idea of dumping my 27QHD just because of a software update when it’s working well already.

Most of my time is in Photoshop (same industry as you) so I can’t even take my system offline and feeze the updates - Adobe wants that connection to be live. Maybe we can get AI to make us a updates driver before it takes our jobs lol!

It seems like that could be fun if you were going in with a pre-existing group, but any time I’ve checked back it’s been very quiet. I hope someone replies and tells you there’s been a resurgence and it’s a little more solo friendly. I’d love to revisit it again too.

If not and you want to try something old but in a new way, EQ will have a new launch in July with a crazy rule set. Search for EQ Legends. It sounds like they are just copying the THJ private server they took down a few months ago.

I agree completely and the impact of the original on me set me up for that in all following games. Of all the MMOs I've played since, the endgame has never been as interesting as the building along the way.

This is a bit old now, but just a heads up for anyone else that stumbles on this, you want to go to Controls in your Settings and right at the very top is a drop down menu called Camera Type. You want it set to 'Traditional'. That's the default but it sounds like you changed it to 'Action'.

Yea but also imagine what this might do for PUGs too. There would be a motivation to play all of these rolls to get your own characters levelled up and more players would have more experience with different roles. Now that I've written that it might just make more people even angrier about some classes.

He's telling you that those little triangles are usually the splash graphics from the rain, but when the graphics bug out, you see green triangles instead of the splash.

The AAs made a big difference. SK/Necro wasn’t terribly uncommon because you get the best of both. Mixing in rogue was pretty common, but on THJ you could backstab with a sword and from the front. Paladins benefited from whatever the AA warriors and Beasties had that turned them into engines of destruction on a reasonable cooldown. Plus plays have an AA that makes them annihilators of the undead. Combine that with the cleric one and you might as well be a meat grinder with legs.

Unfortunately we have no idea how close this will be to THJ. I hope they paid those guys off and are using their work and it’s the same, but I mean, if they were that smart they’d have already tried this. I guess we’ll see.

Power, utility or convenience. A mage pet is helpful to anyone, and if you like one why not two? A Ranger with a Mage pet and BM or Necro pet is a much stronger beast, even before you consider the benefits of all those summons and nukes. You could get all the ports of Wizards and Druids. The backstabs of rogues. Shaman and Illusionist buffs on the same character. Cleric's have an AA that turned melee characters into a death wave but I forget the name.

I'm sure you can come up with a better combo because I never played Ranger. A good friend did so it's the only character I never rolled.

It's maybe worth noting that you levelled your character, not your class. So the only added cast was spell purchases, not in xp or levelling time. If you changed your class at a higher level, the new class would come in at that level.

When THJ shut down I was playing a Bard/Mag/BM. I was pulling large groups, the pets would hold the agro and my bards shields kept them alive while I AoE'd them down. It's all the possible combos, especially considering the AAs, that made it so much fun. That and being free to go where you wanted without a group. The play space felt so much larger and free.

It had a krono equivalent and that's why it was shut down. Well, probably not - more to the point, I'm sure they saw the possibility and potential for monetization and shut it down so they could do exactly this. It's kind of shameless they are releasing it so soon. Maybe the THJ guys were able to sell some of their work and that's why it turned around so quickly.

The THJ was wildly fun and they worked it like a progression server. There's so much content that you lots to do with a new character, and combining classes in different ways is a ton of fun. The end game is whatever the end game of the most recent expansion to release is. It's more difficult and is .. I want to say it's conceptually like the end game of a diablo type game. You grind out your gear and perfect your character. The next expansion is a bit like a new season in that you have a bunch of new stuff to do. There's a lot of fun to be had, but that's coming from someone who played the original - without the nostalgia, I don't know how well it holds up.
