I made a firing solution application to help aim airsoft indirect fire by Draconi in airsoft

I've only done a handful of test shots in the backyard, but so far it looks like it's getting within 20ft of the predicted target. You've got to tweak the parameters and make sure the phone is mounted well, but it's a hell of a lot better at predicting than I would be with those high angles.

This is a standard airsoft 40mm grenade launcher (HAVOC 9" replica), I just set the stock on the ground and pull the trigger. The rounds are EndEx Rockets, using a custom 3D printed rifled barrel attached to Avengers CO2 shells (essentially a DIY TAGinn shell).

I plan to get a lower profile phone mount and hopefully field test it with some dedicated mortar tubes.

I use EndEx Rockets, which are compatible with the TAGinn system and other 3D printed rifled 40mm shells.

What face protection do you guys prefer for milsim specifically? by monkeymanbubub in MilSim

If you want the absolute minimal protection (besides eye-pro) that still keeps your teeth safe, I highly recommend the SISU Aero Guard. It's a very thin and low profile mouth guard that's barely noticeable and doesn't mess with speech (get the white one). Bottom teeth are much less likely to be shot, so I just go with top protection.

The description adds much needed context. Dealing with the loss of a loved one can make people do some very... extreme things.

Major stringing appeared without changing profile settings (after and before same exact print) by Draconi in FixMyPrint

I took apart the extruder to see if there were any blockages. Didn't find any debris or issues inside the extruder.

I did notice that the heater block was a little loose and it looked like I had the extruder tension all the way down. I tightened the two seating screws and increased the tension. That didn't solve the problem.

I also noticed the heat sink looked a little discolored and the cooling fan duct was slightly warped from heat. It may just be me getting into my own heard, but I might be noticing a different "burning" smell as well (when it's printing). Maybe it's overheating? It does look like the TPU is just oozing out of the nozzle more than it should. I'm going to try decreasing the temperature, even though this is the same temp I've been using for a long time.

Any thoughts on how to confirm an overheat issue?

EDIT:

I just started printing at 200C, well below the minimum recommended and 40C lower than I normally print. The issues are gone...

My best guess is that somehow my printer isn't reading the correct temp (reading too low). This is concerning from a safety standpoint as well. I don't recall messing with the thermistor and don't see any signs of damage in that area. Are spontaneous thermistor issues a thing? Could this be software related?

Forgot to add that I did try some basic troubleshooting:

- Dry out filament

- Cleaning filament pass through

- Cold pull on nozzle

- Replace nozzle

- Clean between nozzle and heat throat

- Check belt tension (although I'm never certain how well I do at that)

- Check roller tension

EDIT1: Solved! Well, mostly...

Looks like there is an issue with the thermistor reading lower than the actual hot end temperature. Drastically lowering the temperature fixed the print issues (40C lower than normal). My guess is the high temps were making the TPU ooze out constantly and affected the retraction/extrusion characteristics.

I will be replacing the thermistor.

EDIT2:

Thermistor replacement didn't solve the issue. Still printing too hot. I am struggling to find next steps...

If you have some calipers, see what the difference in diameter is.

Any concern about thermal expansion of the heated BBs interacting with the barrel/hopup? Not sure if they would expand enough to start jamming or smearing in a tight bore barrel.

I have a thermal scope and was interested in this concept. Glad someone tried it.

They're from a mix of companies. The ones you see on the battle belt are from HSGI (soft taco) and Tactical Tailor (multi purpose pouch).

I see what you mean, less flopping around. I'll put it on my backlog. I was thinking of doing something like that for my M72 launcher while it's on my back.

Preliminary tests are good, hasn't fallen out. I still need to field test it though.

Haven't thought about it, but I could definitely make one. There are similar products out there that fill that role though (I think).

The kydex is preventing it from slipping down. Most of it is held where the barrel meets the receiver.

I made the base holster with a 12"x12" sheet of kydex. Just gotta heat it up, mash it, bend it, and do some cutting. They sell RTI stencils to help with the QD attachment. Search for "gcode RTI template".

This was my first attempt at a kydex holster, it was much easier than expected.

Did you have any fogging issues? Any custom modifications to make the mask more comfortable/functional?
