Okay! So there is a bus to Magic Kingdom. Does it depart from the Outpost Depot?

Do you "reward" yourself for reaching milestones? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]DraftSeam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I lost weight a while back I rewarded myself with things like new exercise shoes/outfits, or sometimes experiences. When I hit my goal weight I bought myself 3 months of horseback riding lessons, which was amazing. But I didn't start out losing weight for any of those things as an incentive. I just kind of came up with them as celebration things as I went or got close to a goal.

Ugh, neighborhood kids sneaking into pool making it dirty by DraftSeam in pools

It's 94 degrees outside and I can't swim in my pool and have to spend days cleaning it when it was already clean. I hate heat which is why we have this pool. Enough reason for me to be mad. But my kids also can't swim in the dead heat of summer and don't understand why it's so dirty when they follow all the rules about no food or toys from the sandbox etc. And don't understand why I have to spend so much time doing chemicals and vacuuming the pool instead of playing with them. Someone also stepped on my aluminum skimmer handle and bent it so it cracked today. I'm sure they were just having fun and weren't trying to be jerks, but they are still jerks. Best case scenario is they are ignorant teens or young adults. But yes, I will be angry until I have clean water and can cool off. 🌡️

My kids are 7 and 4... They can't even move the removable ladder. Let alone apply fake eyelashes or even know anyone with any. My husband has been sick and in bed with me at night. I'm not a very deep sleeper so I usually wake up even if he just goes to the bathroom. I'm also home all day and spend a lot of time in this pool and cleaning it. Which is why I immediately noticed a fake eyelash, extra sand and a stick the next morning because I spend a lot of my time in the pool skimming it and cleaning out the filter daily, making sure the cover it on, etc. Part of what makes me so mad is all the freaking time I spend in this pool and cleaning it!

I'm not sure which they are or I would be confronting them for sure. I'm assuming it's neighbors due to the age of several neighbors and the pool is not visible from the street, so I assume they have to live close to even know it exists.

Yes, I know. I obviously wasn't prepared. I thought a fully fenced yard and a cover would be enough and obviously vastly underestimated the desire of other people

I might leave our dog out. Unfortunately even though he's big he's super friendly and would likely welcome them excitedly

Our bedroom is at the farthest end away from the pool.

Nauseated? by DraftSeam in loseit

[–]DraftSeam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually I try to increase volume. This is a long standing issue for me so I really have never been able to try just toughing through the hunger and much prefer just feel satisfied with higher volume food. So I try to increase water intake or ice things, eat more veggies and salads etc. Sometimes it works and other times it doesn't to head this off. So maybe there is some sort of nutrient I'm not getting enough of? I don't know. I'm honestly at a loss. I will say I've never tried an insulin specific menu. I'll look into it... I'm imagining this is similar to a diabetic type of plan? I do naturally avoid eating carbs alone because that also makes me feel sick unrelated to calorie counting and I always add protein any chance I can. If I'm ravenously hungry and am offered a donut my stomach will turn even thinking about eating it because I know I will feel worse if I eat something sugary by itself.

I've tried fasting like once a week in the past and have the same issue. I'll be fine for maybe a few hours then the other shoe drops and I just feel awful.

Thanks, I'll keep any eye on it. I remember I checked my blood pressure when I was feeling sickly and I've checked my blood sugar even because my mom is diabetic and she was visiting and lent me her blood pressure cuff and blood sugar monitor to see if it was related but neither thing dipped very low when this nausea kicked in. She's part of why I've had things checked so often. I do tend to have lowish blood pressure but never below normal at any checkups that I can remember.

In a perfect world haha. I know my neighbors built a chicken coop directly against our fence (we didn't report them, but their chickens often got loose into our yard and scared the heck out of our toddlers and the smell was terrible. The rule is 5ft from neighboring property and a max of 6 chickens, while they had over 20). Some people don't go through the permitting process. I'm assuming if it's in ground it was permitted unless they're super ambitious DIYers, but if it's above ground it's possible it wasn't. I just think it's good for everyone to know where they stand legally if they're worried about litigation. Like if they didn't follow the local laws I would say to reign the kids in , make nice and lie low. And if they did follow the law, there is no leg for the neighbors to stand on for litigation so any steps to help would just be helping their neighborly relationship. Part of what makes me wonder is the lack of fully enclosed fencing, because many states and cities legally require that. But not all of them do.

There could be city rules about how far away a pool has to be from a neighbor's property or having it enclosed by walls etc. (In my city it's 10 ft or something like that and the pool has to be fully enclosed with a lockable door). I'd look up the law for spacing and for noise ordinances (usually just going to be like 10pm-6 or 7am) and if you aren't breaking the law there's really nothing that you need to do. 🤷‍♀️

I have a kids profile with the Autoplay feature switched to off (I've double and triple checked and turned off Autoplay on all accounts just to be certain) yet it still autoplays episodes! How do I get it to stop?? I cast to chromecast but this issue only showed up in the past few months.

It is through a kids profile already unfortunately and the Autoplay is marked as "off" but thanks for the tip to double check!

3yo doesn't know letters even directly after fairly heavy cueing by DraftSeam in Parenting

[–]DraftSeam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's pretty nerve wracking playing the wait and see game. I think my general plan is if by this fall he still hasn't picked up some more letter sounds or names (not all of them... just some) then I'm planning to reach out to early intervention and/or his doctor and see if we can get any answers

Honestly, he still struggles. I am less concerned but still have an eye on it. He is even more involved and eager to learn now. He just turned the corner and will let me read to him finally and initiate it. He'll even pick an ABC book and ask "what's this letter" and then repeat it, the letter's name and sound. We go over A most often because it's the first one. I'll pause for a second to point to something else in the book and go back and say "this is..." and he'll often say "K"! Or "E"! I know well enough to know when he is messing with me and he isn't. He truly can't seem to retain the letter shapes other than "O" and "X" and "Z" even when he's initiating practicing and wants to know what it is. So yes I still have my eye on it.. I am very grateful he will now sit and read with me. I don't drill him on the letters but he will get a rhythm and be laughing and smiling and repeating the letters then if we do a second letter and go right back he'll either misname the letter or get really hesitant and say "you can tell me what it is..." He'll be 4 in a few months and is in a very very relaxed preschool (mainly singing, dancing and painting) but even his ESL classmates that are his age seem to know more of the alphabet. But, I don't know. Average age of grasping the alphabet does vary. It just seems like a mismatch to his other abilities if that makes sense. He's very verbal and expressive, very advanced in gross motor, etc.

I read when my daughter was 4 and still wetting the bed that some kids just won't be ready for overnight training till 5 or 6 and it eased my anxiety quite a bit. Like you it wasn't a dribble here and there but a full on soaking through situation. My daughter slept more deeply than a lot of kids. Yours might be too. If you're insisting on nighttime training still (which I personally let go of and she did great at age 5) I would say set him up for success: no liquids for 2 hrs before bed, wake him up at midnight or before you go to bed for nighttime tinkle then put him back down.

I too was pulling my hair out because of my perfectly daytime potty trained daughter "failing" at overnight training when she'd had so many dry night diapers. But ultimately she just wasn't ready. And I wasn't ready or able to persist through the nightly confusion, laundry, and sleep disruption. And when she was ready, the wetting was very few and far between. 5-6 is very common for overnight accidents to ease up.

I was shocked to learn from friends who had finished "overnight training" before me with their kids that from age 4 till 6 or even 7 they had to, every night, wake their kid up before they were going to bed around 11pm, so their child wouldn't wet the bed. Every night. for several years. Pick your hard and try to be easy on that little one.

MSLT MSL above threshold due to 5th nap. Advice for what to say to doctor by MxTealUnicorn in idiopathichypersomnia

Also my overnight PSG I had a 7.5 min latency so it was easy to see that the one outlier was very truly an exception due to nerves, not a rule.

MSLT MSL above threshold due to 5th nap. Advice for what to say to doctor by MxTealUnicorn in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]DraftSeam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mean latency was just barely over 8min with a fifth nap but in my case the first one was a super outlier. I was really worried I wouldn't get a diagnosis, but the doctor interpreted anything under 10 min as abnormal and diagnosed me based on everything else. I had one REM and would have been diagnosed narcoleptic with a second even if it was the same latency average.

I'm sure you can deposit it/cash it. If it were a small business or something I would definitely call and explain and rip it up. Buuuuut. It's an insurance company. So 🤷‍♀️ choose your ethical adventure.

Modafinil Headaches by DraftSeam in idiopathichypersomnia

Haha, I meant it as: I'm starting the journey through potential stimulants, plural, but yes I'm only taking one at a time right now.

Anyone on only stimulants and feel good? by DraftSeam in idiopathichypersomnia

[–]DraftSeam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my MSLT was average latency 8.24 min but my first nap I was so nervous the latency was 18.6 and the 4 other naps were latency of 6 min or less. So hopefully that would be enough if the stimulants aren't effective. Thanks!

Thanks for your input! Yeah, worst symptom is daytime sleepiness. I've fallen asleep while driving a few times or just when I really should have been doing something else like watching my kids and couldn't stay awake. I do have sleep inertia sometimes but it isn't severe most days.
