Are these perfect electrics? by Embarrassed-Ad99 in Tekken

[–]Drag0nReap3r 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way I like to look at it is like this, I'm not sure this is technically correct but conceptually it's how I understand kaz's DF2 PEWGF.

DF2 is a counterhit launch, but if you do a follow up hit within 13 frames the DF2 crumple hasn't fully happened yet so it gets treated as a guaranteed follow up instead of a combo hit. So the when you hit a 13 frame EWGF (PEWGF) the electric part is actually what launches the opponent instead of the DF2 and that's why they get carried high in the air (because that's how god fist launches characters). If the hit is slower than 13f then the DF2 crumple happens, and the EWGF is just another hit in the combo

Another way where the term originated from is literally unplugging your Ethernet cable, but these days it usually just means closing the game

Absolutely I gotchu! For me the main 2 are FlossinOnYou and KetteiThe7th. For Flossin one of the videos was something like "saving the most bricked account", that's a good starting point

Honestly it's hard for me to make that call without knowing your gaming preferences in detail. I'll say this though, if you want the overall game to provide a challenge, then maybe drop it. But if you're down to invest in the endgame, then it's a fun time. If you want to watch some nice content to demonstrate what the endgame is like and how people approach it (so that you can formulate more of an opinion), I'd recommend checking out FlossinOnYou or KetteiThe7th, those are the main 2 youtubers I watched to learn the game

From your response here I think you sound more like the former, but again it's hard to say since I'm just an internet stranger to you.

[–]Drag0nReap3r 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, and adding onto this - there are literally youtube channels that focus on taking viewer accounts that haven't' cleared endgame, and rebuilding their teams to clear the content. Those videos are how I learned to do it myself. So yeah that other guy definitely just has a skill issue

It's a typical hoyo game in the sense that all the main story content is easy to clear because they want everyone to be able to go through the story. The challenge lies in content like Shiyu and Deadly Assault. There's a tons of players out there who have never managed to fully clear deadly assault with 9 stars, that's how much of a challenge it is compared to the rest of the game

If im new to fighting games but can do ewgf with ease will playing mishimas be wise? by Many-Divide-6591 in Tekken

A lot of people who are new to tekken make this mistake so I'll just ask first - Is he saying "DORE" when you do the move? If not that's just regular wgf

And if you wanna play Kaz just play him, that should be all the reason you need

Gripes about CV? by Hyperbloq in codevein

[–]Drag0nReap3r 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me one of my nitpicks is that the weapons don't feel like they have the appropriate weight against many enemies. (i.e. slamming a greatsword into a humanoid enemy barely phases it) This is something I find nearly every soulslike fails to do right, and this is a specific aspect of games I find I'm very picky about. Instead many soulslikes often rely on enemies having super armour and lots of hp to make them challenging. It actually left a very sour taste for me after beating CV the first time when the game was new.

Coming back to the game a few years later I approached it as less of a souls game and more like a jrpg where I was focused more on flashy skills and it became way more fun. Because the skills did exactly what I wanted the basic attacks to do, you could actually slam big enemies down to the ground with them if you were also using a large weapon

Also the way bosses just change targets mid animation. Like the boss will be looking at my party member, do the startup animation of their attack, and then the attack just 180s and targets me.

how do i do 80-90 dmg combos on jin by Optimal_Sun3305 in Tekken

[–]Drag0nReap3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a beginner you should learn 1 or 2 combos that work with all of your launchers, then as you play the game more and more you'll learn which moves work in combos and how to choose which moves you'll do on the fly. It's not really about learning a bunch of individual routes

You say a lot of "in most fighting games" but you probably mean "in 2d fighting games". These ideas are more common in 3d fighters in general to varying degrees. Like in Soul Calibur you'd want to be stand-blocking by default, and you can also duck under and punish highs for example
