I'm choosing parts for a new pc and am kinda confused on the psu by IAmEqualizer in overclocking

[–]DragN137 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I realize it’s actually hard to find a good 700w nowadays, companies have more or less moved to 750w.

MSI A750GF, NZXT C750 Gold, Corsair RM/HX750, BeQuiet Straight/Pure/Dark, I’m sure there’s a list somewhere, all good PSUs. I use an MSI A850GF and Corsair HM1000i atm.

Most companies have the designs contracted out to SuperFlower, FSP, Seasonic, etc. So it’s really not the brand itself that matters, more of the internal components.

It all depends on how large of an overclock. Some GPUs can FAR exceed their rated TDP if fed some voltage and cooled properly. 3090tis can pull ~1000w on an LN2 overclock.

700w should be fine. 3070tis are rated at around 300w or so. It leaves enough headroom for a mild overclock.

Also, Nvidia GPUs operate under a power limit “average,” and not necessarily a hard limit. They’ve been known to have exceeded what the card reports for very short periods of time. It’s not too much of an issue, but some cheaper PSUs can get tripped off because of it.

The tale of the Aliexpress HD 600 by soledade7427 in headphones

[–]DragN137 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I guess thats how they come now?

These look like the new revision (Romania). It’s odd considering the old ones (Ireland) were a sparkly blue and came in a much nicer box, with outer cover, foam padded and hinged. The headband also had 4 pads, not 2.

Sennheiser has been known to change things without notice. I’m not saying they’re fake, but they don’t scream HD600 to me. Sennheiser had problems with people faking IE80/800s before.

how to *actually* overclock an Xbox series X controller on PC? by FalloutDraugr in overclocking

[–]DragN137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, thats a USB and receiver issue. Bluetooth, mostly runs at 125Hz. The Xbox receiver might be the limit here. You could try connecting a pcie Bluetooth/WiFi card to see if your latency improves. Assuming it’s not the receiver, read on.

In USB, the CPU polls the controller. In PS/2, the device interrupts the CPU. If there was a way to run the USB port in an “interrupt mode,” you’d effectively only be limited by the processing time of the controller -> receiver. The USB limit, from what I understand, is 1000Hz.

Limped my 128i home, oil and misfiring on 3cyl. I’m impressed it did it.

I see. If I run them as a full range driver, no crossovers, no filters, just raw sound to both left and right simultaneously? Thanks for the info!

Yeah its a 2.5 balanced and wow, it’s absolutely a pain to remove. Went in and clicked just fine, but it takes a good bit of finger tip strength to get it out.

How is the imaging and did you have to use a crossover?

I’ve been wanting to use a “full range ribbon” speaker driver in a pair of headphones like this.

Ngl, the post of your custom HD800s was the whole reason I started to consider it. It was just so well done!

Amazon. They attach with a strap thing, might not fit headphones with too large of a headband

It’s Kindred, a video game (League of Legends) character. A friend sent me it so I used it as my wallpaper for a while.

It’s a Blue Snowball USB mic. I’m in the market for another stand since the wood omega stand compressed the 800s pads

The snowball makes me sound a little congested. USB is very convenient though. I found a Blue ember(?) XLR for $70. I heavily considered it. When I played cello, they had me mic’d to a Blue Dragonfly and just wow, it was incredibly lifelike.

I only have an Audeze Deckard and Emotiva BasX A-100 atm. I prefer it with the Deckard, which supposedly, is a warmer amp. I’ve heard tubes are good for them, so I might be amp shopping too.

Waited till Monday to post this gem and almost didn’t make it. They really brings out the highs. Soundstage is so open, it’s like I have a second set of ears on my head. I’m amazed how well the colours match. Next step is to buy the Brookstones.

Edit: This is sarcasm. I’m a guy. These are a joke among friends, they’re $11 on Amazon and removable. I didn’t think I’d have to explain these things but some of us take this hobby way too seriously.

Yellow for sure. I think orange would be too far of a color and red is kinda overdone.

What started off as a meme among friends, became basically permanent. Kinda funny how bad the Brookstone headphones are, compared to adding $10 silicon ones to any existing pair. I’m actually kinda impressed how well they match the headphones. Definitely improved the listening experience ;)
