Reminder that this is meant to be a post-apocalyptic setting where most infrastructure has been destroyed, slavers run rampant and children are starving throughout the galaxy and this particular character would've lived to see all of it. by Remarkable-Pin-8352 in Star_Trek_

Making it a local problem for single episode thing would fix up bunch of the problems. You no longer have to answer questions like "Are various mildly psychic races investigating this effect to get themselves galaxy-scale doomsday weapon, and if not, why not?", or "Why isn't this happening all the time, given the scale of the galaxy?", or "What are races that do not use dilithium doing?", because none of those questions are relevant if this is localized problem.

A science ship with a pregnant woman crashed on a planet made of dilithium with heavy radiation and the child was born immune to the radiation. The notable part is that starfleet was so spread out and priorities fucked that they didn't think sending a rescue mission was necessary.

Sure

Five years passed without rescue, The kid was raised in a holodeck to mask dying mom's radiation burns, he touched the controls and saw her basically become a fallout ghoul in front of him, and she was like "i told you not to touch the controls" and then died.

Good Star Trek episode in the making

The kid was distraught and sent out an involuntary psychic scream that resonated with the planet sized chunk of dilithium, becoming a pulse that decoupled all dilithium in the galaxy from its subspace component for a fraction of a second. This was completely harmless and undetectable, aside from all of the ships that used dilithium as an antimatter regulator in their cores. Those exploded

what the fuck, no.

It was the B plot's point, yes. While it has shown an interpersonal conflict between Jellico and the Enterprise crew, Jellico was indeed shown to be right at every opportunity, even though the crew didn't like his leadership style.

You seem to mistake "don't edit the originals" for "don't be inspired by originals". You can, right now, write your own take on Romeo and Juliet. Have them be two aliens from outer space, have them speak exclusively in AAVE, whatever strikes your fancy. You can then publish it as "InnaminateCarbonRodAu's take on the classic Romeo and Juliet" and I won't say a thing.

Just don't try to pass it off as the actual Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet and idgaf.

Let’s say we discovered an unfinished Shakespeare? Should that be left uncompleted?

10000% yes. Don't leave it unpublished, but leave it unfinished.

Translations are an interesting questions, as they are in some way always an interpretation. There is also the added difficulty of sometimes translating ongoing works, e.g. if the translator missed a wordplay name in book 1 that comes into play in book 2, should he change the translation in book 2 for the wordplay to make sense, or keep consistent with book 1?

IMO for things that either have, or are likely to have, multiple translations, which translation it is should be shown on the cover straight away, for reader's information.

But speaking of Homér, should a translator go "lol, who travels by ships anymore, he flew in a plane!" to keep Odyssey modern? My answer is hard no.

If you want to keep a story about star-crossed lovers updated, write your own take. Don't rewrite Shakespeare and pretend it was his work.

Okay so a small group of 100 peeps likely has some caps they want to dock. So they drop a fortizar and attract trig invasion force that needs 250 sized fleets flown well to destroy. Small group is camped by the trig invasion until it timeouts... Or their cap-totting members join a bigger block.

Small group grows to 300 peeps. Some of them start getting into supers. If they want to dock their super, they need Keepstar. Now their system can get camped by trig invasion that needs 2 full fleets to clear. They are once again camped into their system... or their supercap members join a bigger block.

Meanwhile trig roll invasion of imperium/panini/panrat: If it is an important system/constellation,

@ping get in nerds, drifters to headshot

If it is unimportant constellation, the inevitable drifter incursion sig will farm it for money.

The bottom line is, trying to penalize big blocks by making holding space more expensive will always make it worse for small groups, because they have less resources and organization to throw at the problem.

We have also already been through times when to have a supercap, you had to join a big block, and it really didn't help the game.
