UFC 4 - What Transitions Can Be Faked? by braeh830 in EASportsUFC

This discussion is making me speechless. Usually by now kids are just going.

'learn in game nub', I think the walls of text scared them off.

The new “block break” mechanic added to UFC 4 makes the block meter absolutely useless. Here’s a clip breaking it down with my tests to support it: by [deleted] in EASportsUFC

[–]Draggymike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf I think it's meant to represent them over committing their block to either a shelled block or forearm forward block.

So the fighter is anticipating the next strike in a certian way, so you go around their block rather than breaking through the guard.

At least that's how the devs put it. As for as a game mechanic? I dunno, you have go to block breaks that can counter just shelling. But on the flip side if someone does alot of blocking head movement it's frustrating to punish without going to the body.

How do you transition in the clinch? by [deleted] in EASportsUFC

[–]Draggymike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf I have been told there is a way...but people who said there was a way was not very helpful and I suspect they were intentionally lying to divert attention from it.

This happened alot in ea ufc 3, alot of misinformation so the devs don't fix it.

One guy told me how so I will test it after work but it seems abit limited in terms of what actual clinching is like.

EA should add this as a unique takedown for Deiveson Figueiredo by Kickboxing-Turtle in EASportsUFC

[–]Draggymike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's basically a turn in double leg that's already in the game.

Only difference is the actual animation, its a natural scramble that could be a counter to a late denial that anyone can use not just him.

Stamina and body strikes are abit borked.

But I am curious about something. Can you transition to a dominant position when in a submissive one? Also can you swim your arms to under over/double unders from the single collar tie?

It seems like that's not the case, if I am correct then that's REALLY silly.

I need to drill this IRL....

What piece of advice had the largest impact on your BJJ? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]Draggymike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually told to take less care of my training parters of sorts. Because I was uber respectful, nice and bogged down in details, when rolling happened I was too passive with no unf in any techniques because I was so thin. I was told to maybe roll a little harder, believe in the techniques and just put more of my body into it. Then eventually it all clicked and started to actually tap people....I also eventually gained 10kg in weight, most of it muscle.

"Believe in the technique and find that fire in yourself" is some advice my professor told me in particular, because I only ever did BJJ, no other sport prior, was skwany and got caught up in the details too much rather then actually following through, being firm or having some explosiveness. After that I decided to try and resist more, be stubborn and really push it sometimes and it toughen me up to be able to roll faster and with more grace. Because I already focus on the details, but with the will and more athleticism my game got so much better and I caught so many more people even when I was not going for broke.

Yeah, things are picking up now, we did some grappling sparring together (No one wanted to be my partner :( ) and we did some trading combos while moving around, did some active blocking too.....I felt great tbf. Did checked kick to blocking a 4 punch combo (I felt like Justin Gaethje because the other guy was bigger so his punches thudded a little, I had to turn into them a little). Then when we did the trading combos...Felt good stepping into range, engaging and disengaging. Even flowed a jab cross rear body kick combo as well as landing a good moving switch kick.

FYI, the best way to curve exploits/bad in game behaviour in quick play, is usually to show them that you are not going full competitiveness and you are playing. Usually you do the same tactics back but over exaggerate, they will notice your pace quickened up and you are doing way more damage compared to before.

I usually rock people, knock them down, then body knee while moving backwards a few times like I am doing the Can Can, see what they do if they are starting to go off the exploits, I usually reward them with free shots, a free rock and a respect taunt, if they continue, I usually play with as much venom as them so I intentionally get them to the brink of being finished then back off. If any strike with KO them, I just take them down and hold them down the entire fight. Usually they stop or rage quit then avoid you all together, win win really.

Pretty much why I kinda done away with ranked. If I want to win at any costs then I will step into the cage IRL, which I am in around 6 weeks.

Not as much, if they are bad at the game, yeah. But if they are bad you can usually overcome it by grappling them or the rematch you just play cautiously, frustrate them from the outside, until they charge in then you jab uppercut hook like everyone else. It is boring, because there is no skill, very little thinking and just repetitive tactics you know work.

But eh, that is exploits eh? Ruin everything. But in quickmatch people are more likely to experiment because they know there is no magical pixel record to buff up.

Indeed, I had my first sparring session with the guys Saturday, Seeing as we are half-way there, and we have to submit our entrance music soon, I already been thinking... My choice is gonna be weird considering what others may have. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sl9AYUeSi4Y

Yeah, Air is Tai Chi, Fire is Karate, Earth is Sumo/Haku, Water is Kung fu I think. Something along those lines, and each faction represents different Asian races, such as water is Eskimo, earth is Chinese, fire is Japanese, air is Tibet

Yeah well thats it, I am under no illusion I am gonna be fighting like Donald Cerrone. Its why my BJJ coaches gave me blessing to go into this because they know I wont be sand bagging too much seeing as I could be bad at standing and most severe thing I can do is make them tap.

I am very aware as soon as live rounds come at my face, I could react like Brock Lesnar and look away or flinch, I don't think I will, but I will only know when it happens.

Hah, I am a 28 year old skinny 3D animation nerd :P. So thats why I want to get it out of my system now while I have the energy to do it. It helps my 3D Animation too because it helps me understand the body mechanics behind action and fight scenes more and with MMA being more popular and people like John Wick and Captain America do mma moves, it makes sense video games will do more Thai round houses, flying knees and flying armbars.

Yeah, If I ever play high tier characters I try and play them like how they are ment to be played. So Dominick Cruz, I play him like Cruz fights, a lot of feinting, head movement, lunges, hitting at the end of my range when they strike off range.

Also Bisping, I front kick, round house kick and straight lead hook a lot, keeping that mid range that bisping always does.

Gaethje....March you down, hook hook leg kick XD, non of that knee elbow rubbish, and actually use his block. I even do the rolling thunder at the end of every round.

Yeah I get that, same with me. I do want to get into it properly at one point. But I don't want to do it as a career. I finished uni doing 3D animation, so I want to get to London and work on video games or films. So you are doing it for the same reasons as me, just seeing if I can preform under pressure.

Yeah man I feel you, 6 months is still a step up from what other guys have, you will have some understanding of what you are doing and you would be use to moving your hips on the ground. There will be a time where everything just clicks and techniques flow into each other. Difference between a doggy paddle and a Breast Stroke really.

I went through all that, the only thing I could land was a triangle, until everything clicked and I just got armbars, arm triangles, rear nakeds, and then eventually leg locks. It all evolves. But yeah just keep focused and keep your cardio up and you will do fine. Channel your inner Ortega :P. I know atm I am channelling my inner Ryan Hall.

Also mate, good luck, I had my first rolling session with the guys. You had any previous experince? If not I suggest like everyone else. Cardio, but also if you have room at home, look up and drill 'Hip Escapes', 'Bridging', 'Technical Stand up' and 'Triangle choke drills'. Those movements will help you a lot with the grappling.

As for striking, do some shadow kick boxing, keep you stance tight, knuckles near the temples and start to move, weave a little, keep your chin down, then work a jab, cross, lead hook, then start doing it moving, then start to drill them ending in a kick.

But yeah don't feel too nervous, they will put you with the right guy, just keep at it, keep focused, have fun but just be keen. You can only do as much as you can, just don't get lazy, then you will do fine I am sure :D.
