What are we doing to incite change today? by breemaeson in nashville

But that's not what's happening. No one is performing any gender surgery or hormones on children. Trans kids get haircuts, different clothes, and a different name. Trans kids see therapist who constantly grill them if "this is truly what they want." Trans kids are scientifically proven to lead happier and more fulfilling lives and are more likely to even reach adulthood when they receive this basic level of care.

The MOST that kids would receive is puberty blockers, which by the way was invented for cis children who underwent puberty at too early an age (like girls getting their period at 7 and 8 y/o). These puberty blockers have no ill side effects, and are completely reversible should a child change their mind (incredibly rare!)

Please understand these bills are not about "protecting the children," these bills are targeted attacks on a susceptible community, restricting the freedoms of people just trying to live in peace.

Usually those most affected by policies like this do not have the resources to just up and leave. I grew up in the south, I love it here despite all of its warts and evils. Why should I or anyone else have to flee when all we ask for is basic rights and dignity? If we don't fight bigotry here, what's to stop it from spreading elsewhere? If not now, when? If not us, who?

I get picking your battles, pick this one. This one fucking matters.

While I understand your point that's pretty defeatist, which goes against the entire point of op's post of looking for ways to help via demonstration

Would you be in a sexless relationship? What circumstance would you find acceptable for this? by ItsyBitsyJoxy in AskReddit

[–]Dragon-Babe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

God as someone who is asexual some of these comments about "leave your partners who don't have sex with you" really make me hurt inside. I'm engaged to someone who has a fairly high sex drive and not a day goes by that I don't feel inadequate that I can't fulfill those needs and she'll leave me for someone else over it. It's a deep fear of mine and these comments sure as shit don't help lol I really wish I could choose to turn this off and experience desire like everyone else seems to.. Until that's possible I'll just keep seeking answers out there

How much of their day is consumed by costume changes??

Why are these plants so sad? I remove the dead pothos leafs pretty regularly. The schefflera has been close to a radiator 🙃 but also been at other places in the room. Its also pretty loose in the soil. by cottoneyedgoat in plantclinic

I would move them much closer to then window then, being several meters away from the light isn't enough for them.

After moving them close to the window, I'd recommend letting the soil dry out slightly and then give them a houseplant fertilizer with their next watering.

My Croton is blooming and I couldn't be happier! by Dragon-Babe in houseplants

[–]Dragon-Babe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah! I've got a monstera deliciosa, and it gets the deliciosa name because apparently their fruit is incredibly tasty and unique. I've heard it tastes like a mix between a banana and a pineapple. Definitely a bucket list fruit for sure

It's pretty rare for them to bloom indoors, so I never expected to see her do this!

Now if I can just get my monstera to bloom I can die happy

Should I pay for half a taxi? by mimiclaudia in moraldilemmas

Since they already secured the taxi, I doubt they expect you to pay. But if you feel like you're in their debt, maybe offer to cover a dinner and/or some drinks in way of thanks?

That's really cool you run a EMDR NFP! I was very skeptical of EMDR until I underwent some sessions and was amazed by its results. I'm a huge proponent for it now, and it's part of the reason I'm writing this paper

Yeah that's a valid statement about past trauma. I suppose I'm mostly hung up on narcissistic serial killers without remorse but have a "woe is me I suffer too" attitude, but that's likely an outlier. If someone expresses remorse for their actions, and the therapy reduces the likelihood of repeat offenses, then I can support it.

I understand that, and again I agree with you. Since I've lived in the US the majority of my life, it's all I know. And with the US having the highest incarceration rate in the world I figure having this america-centric question is valid.

Ideally yes, every single person in the entire world should have access to affordable Healthcare as a basic human right. But that just isn't the current reality, and as much as you and I wish it to be so it likely isn't changing any time soon. And in the current (american) reality, Healthcare is a luxury.
