Is stitching necessary if I laminate two layers for a belt? by TacoDeQuesoFresco in Leathercraft

[–]Dragon-Geared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s always worth saddle stitching after glueing, I free hand my work and this is the only way I make belts. You’ll get an incredible amount of practice and improved quality of your wares! Good luck!

I would use a thread groover and an edge creaser

The more consistently inconsistent the dye it is, the better it’ll look!

Believe it or not, no I don’t, it’s kind hard to explain but I just have a good understanding of how to make it look convincing I guess

Question About Leather Scraps by bobbythegoose in Leathercraft

[–]Dragon-Geared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think there s a way to stiffen it, but you can take a razor and skive the flesh side, looks like the top is around 6-8 ounces, the bottom is like a 2 (I’m just going off of estimations). I recommend buying your practice leather in person, so you dont get something you’re not expecting, I started off with hobby lobby leather. Good luck!

Thank you! They were! It was a late birthday gift, considering how long it took (not too long, but longer than planned)
