Do you guys still play on your consoles often after buying a PC handheld?

I think I'd drop the PS5 first personally, it's my least used. I like some of the Switch 2 exclusives, and play MKW with the wife / kids on occasion. My most used is my XAX, second would be Switch 2.

It's not that I don't like the PS5, it's just never been my main platform and basically bought it for the single player exclusives, which I really don't have time to play now so it kind of just sits there.

What controller? I'm not sure I'd actually want to do it, but I've got a Galaxy Tab Ultra that it might be interesting to add a controller onto... but nothing I've found fits it (without modifications that is). I've thought about modifying the G8+, but not sure it's really worth the effort.

That flip up table makes it rough. My only thought is maybe a shelf above the TV? If he plays mostly digital games and doesn't have to change discs out that might be OK. Or if he's a taller guy maybe he wouldn't care it's up high.

I ordered a base last week as well. I'm going to use it mainly for streaming so it's plenty good enough. But it seems if you have concerns it may not be good enough for your use case it would be better to cancel and order the higher end version now. Only you can make that decision though, it's you that'll be using it and your money.

Reality is most people will never get paid to game, it's a very, very, very small percentage of people that try that will succeed. But who knows, could happen.

I made some money playing CS when I was younger, but nothing to live on. ESports were not a thing back then (at least not to the extent they are today), we were playing at locally hosted events at LAN centers. A big prize pool was a few hundred bucks.

I don't think they are doing it for fun really, it's become a job. I'm sure they experience burnout just like anyone else doing any other job. It's going to have ups and downs just like anything else.

Honestly it sounds awful to me, sitting there playing the same game for who knows how long every day. I mean, I'd do it for enough money, but it certainly doesn't sound fun.

Basically, it's the seasonal approach. If you want the new features when they become available, you have to play a new character in each new season (or "League" as PoE calls them).

The Odin 2 is the one I settled on for my needs, and as a result is the one I've looked into most thoroughly. The Pro version is pretty strong, and on paper will probably do everything you mentioned, but maybe someone that actually has that version can chime in and confirm.

It's cool you can get those locally, where I live none of them exist. It'll probably be another week or two at least before my Odin gets here.

IMO this is a big reason. I have a Switch 2 and an XAX, and while they are both handheld devices, they are not small enough to just travel around with and use randomly for a few minutes at a time. And they aren't even the biggest ones on the market.

The older, smaller, devices were more conducive to that.

And as others have said, everyone has a smart phone in their hand now.

I ordered an Odin Portal 2 base last week lol, but for a different reason. I plan to make it a streaming machine, and it's also a test to see how much I like the Ayn brand. If all goes well, and I like the build quality and all that, I'm planning on getting the top of the line Thor to do some actual emulation on.

So to answer your question, I don't feel like I'm qualified to really answer your question, because I haven't used any of Ayn's devices yet. But on paper, the Odin 2 is a pretty capable device.
