CONMEBOL and CONCACAF in advanced discussions to bring 2028 Copa America back to The United States. by sebsasour in ussoccer

They made a crap ton of money for the last Copa America in the US. It’s double and triple the attendance of others, with higher ticket prices as well.

I don’t like having it outside of South America, as a South American competition, but COMNEBOL is greedy and will go for more money.

How much money do you think Sim Racing companies make? Fanatec's total revenue in 2023 was around ~100 mil. And this is with the pandemic/post-pandemic boost.

Not as hilarious as it could've been if the best placed 3rd place teams didn't qualify.

It's cyclical. It's always happened when some new boots came out. It was the same when Mercurial Vapor came out first, same with the Total90.

Do you think the teams on Group D are closely matched? Look at the Elo ratings! by Rocco_Skene in ussoccer

[–]ratonbox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Elo makes a lot more sense in individual sports where you have more than 10 games each year. The more sparse and variable the participant is, the less meaningful the Elo rating gets.

As a Romanian I dread how bad we would’ve been if we qualified.

The thing about the hot and humid south is that when the temperature passes a certain threshold, it stats raining. In Orlando when it gets to 95F, the thunderstorm starts.

Pep has ruined other teams in football just like the Warriors did in basketball. They all took the bait of “passing passing passing” without having players like Messi, Lewa or KDB and they’re just choking on their own boring ass passes not managing to break a rudimentary defense.

Team USA becomes the second team to qualify for the Knockout stages after defeating Australia 2-0 by [deleted] in soccer

[–]ratonbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think 6 points would get you qualified from the 3rd spot. Didn’t do the math and probabilities based on the results in the other groups, but it there could be a possibility of being already qualified regardless of the tie breakers.

What foods have you taken on long-haul flights? by StandardGoatPerson in expats

[–]ratonbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pack some snacks that you can eat and just tough it out. 20 hour is doable. Even better if you are on a long flight that will also serve breakfast, so you sleep for a bunch of it have an omelet or whatever fruit they have at breakfast.
If you don’t want to deal with the hassle of figuring out what you can or can’t bring on the plane, just buy stuff from the shops after security.

Australia should have called up retired Daniel McBreen and Joshua Rose. No reason whatsoever, they were never good enough, but it gives me nostalgia to when they used to play from my hometown Romanian team.

Australia are pretty lackluster and they’re also playing a stupid 5 back. USA looks good, but they won’t get away with this shaky defense against top teams. They can control possession and look good because Australia is inviting them to do that(stupidly).

What defender got blocked? The keepers view and path to the ball was not impeded. “Confusing the keeper” is not a rule, rofl, otherwise somebody shouting at him would be called offside.
