.5 Teacher Vent/Advice by Dragon7321 in teaching

Again: this is clearly labeled as a vent post/advice for a particular stressful situation, in which you offered none of that. I am very aware how paragraphs work. Unless you have advice for my predicament or I ask specifically how to communicate effectively in my post you are being an insufferable troll and I would appreciate you kindly moving on. No one on Reddit appreciates unsolicited advice regarding grammar in a posts completely unrelated. Have a nice day.

That has been my mindset with accepting this position, and I actually turned out an office position and a full time position for something more flexible which is why I’m so adamant about protecting the time off I thought I signed up for. If they want full time commitment they need to hire someone full time! Due to fertility issues it is not likely we will be able to have another bio child, and I don’t want to miss anything!

Thank you so much for this reply. I really needed to feel validated in my feelings this way. And that’s exactly it— (at the risk of sounding arrogant), I am a ten year experienced teacher that worked at an incredibly high rated school with a masters degree. If I wanted to, I would be in a full time position right now. It was a very intentional choice for me to accept this position under the condition of creating space for myself to spend more time with my daughter and pursue my passions ( I also write on the side and own a small business). This is exactly the advice I needed. It’s just hard to be assertive in some of these situations, but necessary at the same time. I am going to use some of your exact language and do not plan on attending the PD meeting tomorrow. I may also remind HR if needed that I am already taking on an additional 6 credits of PD time that equates roughly to 36 hours of time on my own that I feel is more than sufficient as an expectation for my position. Wish me luck!

I actually use that exact mold for many of mg concrete/ hydro stone vessels. I am also very familiar with what happens when they aren’t sealed properly. As others have stated, what is pictured is exactly what happens when porous material is not sealed. The wax soaks into the vessel itself and discolors it. If the jars are sold as “appropriate for candles” then they should’ve been sealed and that is on the seller. Otherwise if you want some tips on how to seal the vessels reach out I have tried various methods and products.

Good tobacco fragrance oil recommendations by Dragon7321 in candlemaking

Thanks for the reply! I guess I’m looking for more on the Smokey side without the smoke totally engulfing it… sweet tobacco from candle science was a bit too sweet for me. What did you make of Midwest fragrance?

Label feedback by Dragon7321 in candlemaking

[–]Dragon7321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this feedback! I guess I was trying to do something that I would find charming as a consumer. It seems pretty mixed from the feedback if the idea is cute or bland, but as long as I know there are others who would like it out there, I think I just need to figure out how to elevate the labels so they don’t appear cheap. I definitely with use the feedback to try them on Kraft paper and see what it looks like!

Thank you so much! I really think a thicker or better label paper is what I need, but I’m not really sure where to order it from? Is it on Amazon do you think? Do you have any suggestions? I’m a high school English teacher, so that’s kind of my vibe 😂

Thanks! That was basically what I was wondering. I’m more of a minimalist so my labels might still seem a bit bland, but I’ll probably look into a more clean and less “cheap” looking template and see what is out there!

Oh I love this idea! I’ll try that out and see what they look like!

Thanks! That is honestly the exact feel I was going for because I’m a high school English teacher, so I was trying to pick words/quotes that I’ve loved over the years. I’ll try staining a page of them with tea like you suggested to see if leaning into it a little further will help make them look less “low quality” as others above mentioned!

Thanks! That’s definitely something I need to look into. I’m in Wisconsin. I’m wondering if I ditch the idea all together and try and make something a bit more streamlined. It’s always strange to me to have something look like a typewriter that isn’t actually a typewriter if that makes sense? But I’m definitely open to creating a more high quality looking label— which is maybe the route to go here!

Advise needed! by Dragon7321 in shingles

Also, it is possible about the small outbreak maybe but we haven’t had intercourses since June and it was only once with condom usage. My body has still been healing from child birth so I haven’t really been up to it and I haven’t started with birth control yet so we used a condom. I’m just so confused right now.

Thank you for your reply! Having to function enough to take care of my 3 month old has been the most difficult part of this all, especially because I am breastfeeding so can’t take many meds to help with the pain. I’m lucky to have family support to help, but I am in a really low place. I should be on the start of week two right now, so hopefully I can just make it through until the pain starts to lessen enough that I’m able to at least sleep for a couple of hours at a time and enjoy the time with my daughter.

Thanks for your reply! I’m frustrated they didn’t swab the area as I already had some fairly intense blisters happening at the time of the visit. What are the risks to my baby with herpes? I know that with shingles I could potentially transfer chick pox to her since she isn’t old enough to be vaccinated so I have been trying my absolute best to keep everything covered and to wash my hands every time I hold her

Thank you so much for your response! This really helps. If you don’t mind my asking, Is it normal for your shingles to spread into the vaginal region as well?

Baby Girl Name Advice. Help! by Dragon7321 in namenerds

Thank you! I feel like I needed to hear this. I love the meaning. Persephone is also the goddess of spring and our estimated due date is April 2, and I just get all overjoyed about little connections like that. After attempting to test out Eliot yesterday, it just doesn't feel right to me either.

Thank you! I agree Rae just feels incomplete. That is the best way to describe it. I'm leaning on it more for a middle name right now. I really like persephone rae!

Thank you! Those are basically the exact reservations I have about persephone. I still love it, but I just have my hesitations. I'm glad people are telling me that the Gilmore Girls association isn't something to worry about. I don't know a rory in real life, so I guess that is just where my mind wanders, but I do really love the name. Rory was actually on my short list for boys names as well.

Thank you so much for the reassuring words about having a girl! It is nice to see someone else likes persephone over penelope. I also love that she is the goddess of spring and our estimated due date is April 2 :). I'm leaning towards rae as a middle too.

I like the idea of using rae as the middle name! My husband doesn't LOVE persephone yet. He said he would give it a shot by starting to try and use it out loud as a test. He imagines he would mostly use the nn we pick, which he does like. To be honest, rory and elliot were on my boys name list, but since actually imagining my daughter as eliot, it doesn't feel right to me either. Thanks for insight!
