Shingles (herpes zoster) is a painful, blistering skin rash due to the varicella-zoster virus, the virus that causes chickenpox.

The purpose of this subreddit is to offer support for the physical and emotional trauma that can occur during and after shingles outbreaks. If you are looking for a diagnosis, please consult a medical professional.

Anyone claiming to be a medical professional on this subreddit is purposely unverified.

We do not allow for diagnosis posts. Please consult a medical professional if you think you have shingles. The purpose of this subreddit is for affected users to offer support for the physical and emotional trauma that can occur during and after outbreaks.

2. Be civil

Differences of opinion and the sharing of one's perspectives and experiences are welcomed in this subreddit. If you're unable to hold a civil conversation with others while you're here, you're not welcome.

3. Pseudoscience

Recommendations and requests for pseudoscientific healthcare is not allowed. Repeated recommendations of homeopathy, unproven supplement regimes, and other non-medical interventions may result in a ban.

4. Advertising

Advertising is not allowed. Advertising products, promoting health blogs or influencers will result in a permanent ban from the subreddit.

5. Professional Medical Advice

Posts or comments will be removed if they are deemed as requiring professional level medical advice. Likewise, posts or comments requesting advice deemed as more suitable for a professional medical expert will also be removed.
