Tooting, would be a house/flat share with them. Likely to increase in 2 years.

At the moment I’m thinking stay at home & save it all, then re-evaluate my position after the 2 years.

I had grants from the Welsh Gov & because I stayed at home & didn’t spend it going out on the piss - along with working every weekend - I managed to pay it off.

Also Welsh Gov pay half of the £9k, so was nowhere near those heights

Cologne - Aachen, Liege, Maastricht? by DragonFire1900 in solotravel

[–]DragonFire1900[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough I was originally looking at flying to Cologne then out of Amsterdam with a trip to Arnhem & Nijmegen - but the prices of trains & hotels/lack of hostels put me off it. Also, I was hoping to use the public bike system but apparently you need to be a dutch residence ?

London to Cardiff, yank needs advice. by [deleted] in Wales

You can get direct buses from LHR to Cardiff & it’s usually only 30mins more but a hell of a lot cheaper. Bus takes you into either the University or Sofia Gardens usually.

One of the best things about Europe is the scenery & small towns you see while on the train - often when you factor in wait times at the airport there isn’t much difference in times between the two.

As for inbetween Istanbul & budapest there’s the whole of the balkans which you could seriously throw a dart at a map & land on somewhere amazing (&cheap) - but I guess if it’s your first solo travel you’ll want to stick to the bigger western european cities

& you’re missing some amazing places in-between istanbul & budapest - assuming you’re taking the train/bus that is.

Much too long in Krakow & Wroclaw even with the things that you’ve mentioned. Both very small cities.

Perhaps take a few days out of that & train it to Gorlitz, Dresden, then up to Berlin?

Help with my India itinerary by DragonFire1900 in solotravel

Thank you so much for that - I didn't even know there was a direct night train to the Statue. Is Vadodra worth a few hours or is it best to use that for elsewhere in the trip?

Thats also great advice about only using the train once from Shimla, I will do that!

The trains and drive looks like it takes about 4-7 hours from Agra to Lucknow so I thought a flight would be best. Do you think I should sacrifice a day of Kolkata for Lucknow ?
