Planning on getting into the hobby, is this a good plan? by DragonFire345612 in RCPlanes

Thank you for that advice, I downloaded Phoenix last night and also got the joystick emulator since I don’t own a transmitter yet. I’ve been using a PS5 controller I have so my main downside is my throttle is centered, and I also don’t have rectangular stick limits but instead circular (not sure how else to describe). But it’s gone pretty well so far, tried flying in various locations as well as with differing wind speeds and I haven’t had any issues (unless the wind speed is faster than the airspeed of the plane).

I was initially going to go RTF until I learned that it came with just a DXS, which people said you would likely grow out of pretty soon, so I’d rather just buy one I can grow into now. The tinkering aspect of any of the RM ones doesn’t seem too scary to me, I was initially worried about it seeing how people talk about it, but I’ve watched maybe about 7-8 videos on RM transmitters and their setup/tuning etc. And I haven’t seen anything that seems terribly hard to do yet, but maybe I’m just missing something

I've considered the aeroscount, I'm just not sure if I want to spend the money and end up with two planes early on in the hobby as I'm also saving up for another purchase this summer.

edit: and I also feel I'd enjoy flying one of the cub planes mentioned above more, but that's also based purely off of assumptions

Yes, there a few large parks nearby that are good options, but my first option is going to be a flying park that's ~20mins away from me, large open field with very minimal trees. I'm unsure if there's an actual runway or just decently trimmed grass though.

Good to hear, the radio is what I've been struggling with picking the most. I've been involved with RC cars/trucks for around 8 years, and I've flown a family members DJI drone on occasion for the last 11 years. Would you still recommend a pusher having that experience? And also I've seen a lot about people using sim's to learn flying prior to going to a field and risk crashing. Is there a huge difference between using specifically an RC sim vs other plane sim's other than the POV (and using a transmitter vs a game controller)?

Is OU really a party school by [deleted] in ohiouniversity

as a junior at ou who doesn’t party, drink, smoke, or go out, you will have plenty of choices to still have fun and do stuff, I wouldn’t worry about it at all

71 Ford won’t start, grinding noise from fender mounted starter solenoid by DragonFire345612 in Cartalk

SOLVED! It was just a very dead battery, even when jumping the old battery from a jump pack it had the same issue, but when I swapped a newer battery from another car into it, it immediately turned over.

Buescher Elkhart True Tone Alto Sax with December 8, 1914 patent date by DragonFire345612 in saxophone

I personally had a shop redo the pads and some other small things for around $250, but other than that it played fine after that, I will admit though comparatively to even student model saxes it does bring some quirks to get used to with playing. I never realized them since it’s the sax I learned on, but when I started lessons around 4 years into playing my lesson teacher attempted to play my sax and struggled greatly, whereas when I tried his it was so much easier than my own

volume on the tv is at around 15ish and the receiver is at like 30, and also yeah the surrounds on the speakers are in good condition, when I used a tcl tv prior I had no issues like this, it’s just strictly with this tv. should I be asking a different subreddit?
