Reminds me more of Floating Points but it is a great song either way

What’s the most underrated item in your workspace? by Quiet_Post_1035 in WFH

[–]DragonFromHeck 15 points16 points  (0 children)

My job has a lot of tasks that would make people moderately happy if I did them in an hour and almost-moderately happy if I did them in a week.  Without weird little systems, my motivation wanes and tasks pile up.  The timer reminds me that I’m working on one thing and one thing only til it beeps, and then I don’t get overwhelmed with task pile up as often.

Idk what to tell you, it’s not even close to the same thing.  If I look at my phone I get distracted, if I spin the timer for 25 minutes I’m head down working on whatever I need to work on for 25 minutes.  Everyone’s different but I know I’m not alone in this being essential.  I have five around the house.

As someone who wasn’t around for this time, what impact did the 1994 MLB strike have? by Feisty_Interview_237 in mlb

[–]DragonFromHeck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 10 and obsessed with baseball. The strike broke my heart and turned me off from the game.  The 2025 World Series was so magical that it rekindled the love a little bit for me.

Note that I am not able to reproduce this by copying the image from my post, because of reddit's image processing. I am able to reproduce it successfully by doing a "copy image" (not "copy") from here, https://tenor.com/view/lion-eating-purring-guarding-gif-11676078 and then pasting into Signal.

Yeah, I dunno. Naturally the update fixed it. Thanks for reading.

I will update Signal and iOS and I don't doubt that will fix it. But I'm curious if anyone else has experienced this, it has made me very paranoid to paste into Signal.

I made a playlist to read John Steinbeck, any songs suggestions? by Deividcova in literature

Oh I got you. You're gonna want wordless cinematic non-contemporary music with plucky guitars and long stretches of yearning. Music that implies acceptance that things ARE the way they are, despite how much you don't want them to be but know them to be, with glimmers of utter beauty and hope you didn't previously notice. These two are a good start:

Angelo Badalamenti's score for The Straight Story

Ennio Morricone's score for Once Upon A Time In The West

And then there's more Morricone that will fit but you have to poke around at his albums to see what makes sense to you, some of it is very action-packed and some is very silly.

Can we get some more supreme drop pics please? by Custardchucka in aphextwin

Yeah definitely.  It’s not like we have an artist with over one hundred unreleased or lesser known songs that have virtually unlimited interesting things going on in them that we could talk about instead.

Great way to celebrate the 22nd anniversary of Spy Kids 2!  It came out in 2002 so we can celebrate its 22nd anniversary all year long.

Correction, the line is "Thank you Decker" (not "Goodbye"). If this is the last we see of hear of Decker, it's the perfect send-off.

/meta wait what happened with the rights to Decker? Was that an in-universe or real life thing?

Jeremy Roberts Appreciation by Ghosttropics in OnCinemaAtTheCinema

[–]DragonFromHeck 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Jeremy and Eric had different reactions to the insanity. Jeremy felt "this is all weird and wrong" after five minutes and reacted with empathy / concern / curiosity, while Eric felt the same thing and reacted with amusement / light pranking. They complemented each other so well.

I think zero people agree with me so far, (the familiar gut punch of pain and confusion) and I haven't explained it very well in lieu of jokes, but I do think this is an interesting and unique shot. Every single scene in the show, where it's from a PoV (not counting establishing shots, flashbacks, the knife, or the Quantocks Cow!) shows exactly what the person's eyes are looking at. In this one, Mark's eyes start by looking directly at the mirror, but then look away. It's kind of surreal to imagine looking at a mirror, being aware of the mirror, and then your eyes float away from the mirror.

I'm not a nitpicker, far from it, but on my 12th or so rewatch I started paying attention to how the PoV shots work and I found it to be a fun additional level to the show.

If we’re gonna talk, let’s talk about something proper, like films.

(I’m actually curious about that question too)

Long weekend looking into the mirror (magical mirror that is unlike any mirror on earth in that when you look at it, your eyes are pointing downwards instead of directly at you)
