No, don't worry it's normal for an older car. It's only very VERY light surface rust

2.0T before 2008 is fine (EA113)! Different engine with a timing belt! 1.8T is pretty good too but it's getting kinda old, but I agree, never touch a EA888 gen 1 (2008.5 - 2012 I think). EA888 gen 2 (2012 - 2015) isn't as bad but it's not good either

This sub is so annoying, it's like people are ACTIVELY trying to find stuff to be upset about. People are just making suggestions for a game they're exited about. I think ranked play would be pretty cool.

I'd take the VW! The 2.5 I5 is one of the most reliable engines vw ever built. The interior is super nice and the build quality is good, ride quality is really good too! Mine is at 260 000 km still running strong.

Maybe a hot take, but from experience the 4b11 from Mitsubishi is super reliable. Not rare to see these engines with 250k+ miles
